I was hoping for more behind the scene information not just some placeholder jargon if you catch my drift. If that's all there is to it, then that's rather lazy filmmaking imo

happy end - heneke's cynical and somewhat gleeful report on bourgeois contemporary europe for contemporary bourgeois europeans. takes a while to get going and for the pieces to form the larger picture, and despite not being its target audience, once everything is set it delivers some very accurate and powerful punches.

amazing documentary- especially if you know who this guy is. if you don't- let me break it down. this guy does porn. when his mother dies, one of her friends asks him to go see her. she tells him "i'm so sorry for your loss" then hugs him very tight and begins to cry. instantly- he gets a hardon. he unzips his pants and sticks his member out. she's shocked- and he's confused, but horny- so he sticks it in her mouth. he cums 3 seconds later and runs out and never sees her again. those are his own words.

I watched Game Night over the weekend. It was pretty fucking predictable but mildly entertaining I guess...tried way too hard to be funny in ways that it just wasn't. That seems to be rampant these days.

suspiria remake looks good...looks more like early Argento or don’t look now, not the surreal overblown suspiria from 77, which I personally never liked much. call me by your name was one of the best movies of last year so I’m optimistic.

i have a weird relationship with that movie. i had torrented it a while ago, thinking "cool, foreign oscar noms are usually deece, and "a bigger splash" was pretty good". but after a while, when i was about to watch it i thought "i'm not really that interested in gay stuff and i had filled my quota with moonlight not so long ago" and so i deleted it. but some time later i went over my bookmarks and encountered it again having never deleted the bookmark leading to its imdb page back when i deleted the torrent. and so i snapped into the initial  position again with addition of some guilt for deleting a film about gays previosuly, and so i downloaded it again. been a few months since then and i still haven't watched it.

but yeah, "a bigger splash" is nice.

saw solo. good god the guy playing han is bad. glover's lando inflection is awful too. good visuals though (except for a couple of really bad shots). better than rogue one. overall not as bad as i thought it'd be. still not good though

Well, here's the thing...

It tries to be scary and it fails.

It tries to be funny and it fails.

It tries to have exciting action set pieces and it fails.

It tries to innovate the franchise and fucking fails at that too. "So, remember how we mashed together a bunch of evil dinos in the first JW? Well, fuck that because this time we're mashing even more evil dinos together. It's like a fucking indo-t-rexosaurusaptor smoothie, fam! It's sick! It's like nothing you've ever seen before!"

It also tries to be more dark than any of other Jurassic movies, but the whole thing is just so bland. Nothing leads to nothing. It's just dark corridors and evil business-men.

Oh, speaking of the evil people... Toby Jones, ladies and gentlemen.

It tries to entice us with a story that's way too similar to JP2. But this movie has a twist. SUCH a twist. And it fucking belly flops half way through whatever it's trying to tell us and shits its pants at the same time. And the twist I'm talking about is not the one about evil rich people who wants to buy dinos for warfare. It's way better.

I can't talk enough about the twist or reveal because... because holy shit... holy fucking shit. It's pretty fucking amazing. Please go watch it so we can talk about the twist.

Also, I feel really bad for Bryce Dallas Howard because people are gonna say that her acting is terrible. I know she's no the best actress in the universe, but the material she's given to work with is fucking useless. It's just her telling us what is happening. "They're killing the dinosaurs...". Yes, lady, the man on TV just said that.

I don’t want to overstate things but this is probably the best horror movie of the last ten years

^heard nothing but praise for that so far. Clip I saw looked pretty good (maybe a touch artsy for me but I'm a simpleton so we'll see).
