You had the cover artwork printed on canvas and hung it on the wall? Hardcore. Me, I just hung up a poster.

WARPLP92 being £25.

Yeah, that's pretty cheap for a quadruple LP in a bigass carton box... Would probably be 50-60 GBP today.

that can't be right. only 25 quid? it was like £40 or something, at least, wasn't it..? :/

but when you take into account all the material ae have released since 2001... there's loads of it, and it's mostly all gold, you could make a compilation 1000x better than Drukqs out of it all. take your pick out of all of those albums. pretty much all of them are better than Drukqs, imo. Drukqs was great at the time, like I said before, somewhere else. I personally wouldn't choose to listen to it anymore though. it kind of stinks of that time - late 90's/early 2000's. it's a good album but I don't think it's aged very well.

whereas ae are always 'pushing the envelope' and the boundaries of sound/composition and their gear.

just sayin.

both things went backwards instead of forwards, imo.

all that stuff could've been done in the mid-90's, the way it sounds. it sounds pre Windowlicker & Drukqs, if you know what I mean.

like it could've been made before then. it wasn't really a progression from W licker or Drukqs.

whereas ae are mostly always progressing.

The analords are mostly loose jams. I agree these are mostly backwards-looking, and they would only sound resolutely fresh and innovative if they had been released in 1987 or so. But the Analords never were released with any such pretension. It's just a certain kind of nostalgic, feel-good (or good-feel-bad) music. The Tuss, though, is at least a subtle improvement on anything that was released in the 90's, and even Drukqs. They are expertly dense, structurally developped and mix the programming flexibility of digital softwares with the richness of analogue timbres. I closest thing to The Tuss that was released in the 90's by anybody that I am aware of is the Richard D. James album, and though maybe RDJ album might sound more fresh and fun in some regards (which is normal since it is the product of a younger man -- on a technical level, I would say the mastering and the drum sounds on RDJ album are bolder than on Rushup Edge), Rushup Edge is more mature and evolved musically.

The only Autechre track from the 00's I remember to this day and could hum in my brain with pleasure is LLC. The rest of the tracks never clicked for me, on any level. There seems to be no passion from the music makers in the tracks, they appear to me to be simply random noodling and arbitrary explorations of certain techniques and keys. RDJ's music may be more obvious and perhaps less sophisticated in some boring kind of way, but I always get why he does certain things, and they almost always click emotionally.

i dunno. i think stuff like

is very progressive, not really that nostalgic. its just using analog gear and bragging about it which changes your perception of the music..I think it was very new music. And I dont vcare for what is new and groundbreaking as mmuch as if it is gooood music. New is a gimmick. Is it good? Do you like to listen to it on a lazy sunday

Yeah, I guess only the first few Analords have a nostalgic feel to them, Analord 02 chiefly.

Is the general consensus that the Drukqs vinyl tracklist is superior to the CD tracklist in every way? I've got the CD but i think i'm just going to reorder the tracks. Hy A Scullyas Lyf A Dhagrow-Kesson Daslef-Avril 14th makes perfect sense, whereas on the CD version Avril 14th is left to wilt between the monsters Cock/Ver10 and Mt Saint Michel+Saint Michaels Mount.
