Too early for figures since the brunt of the damage is going to be from the ongoing storm surges. Weirdly, the mainstream news sources seem to want to focus on high winds and seem to be unaware that significant portions of an alpha city are underwater.

Hopefully the death toll won't be horrifying, and so far it looks to be relatively mild, but in terms of $ damage, I have a hard time imagining that we're not going to be getting closer to Katrina levels than anyone wants to admit.

esp with the HUGE amount of construction at the WTC site right now. Was down there couple weeks ago in a hard hat, supplies and dirt and mud everywhere, just imagining it all under water i'm sure larry silverstein is having a sleepless night right now. the damage must be unimaginable
