yeah, this has some good moments. Womb, Blinding White Light. it's one of those things where i'm not entirely sure which context to be listening to from, but there were definitely some real creative and fun aspects to it. the ascension in At The Mountains of Madness... the ebb and flow of the Static Ocean...

by the second half of the album you get pretty lost in it. thanks for sharing

edit: yeah, font on album art is whack, best to just go without text for a bandcamp album, in my opinion. but really, that's my only complaint. :)

Thanks man! Yeah, I've definitely learned that comic sans is a no-no (not that I even realized that was the font I was using, just went with what I thought looked best, didn't pay attention to the font name). I like the idea of no text, which has been mentioned by quite a few people. I guess I'm just used to albums having artist/title on the cover as someone who still buys CDs. Anyway, I think I'll be getting my girlfriend to do my next Cthulhu album cover as she's actually awesome with visual design and photography. Either that or I'm just going to go the other direction, title my album "Comic Sans" and have it be all text, no art.

This one also lead to an offer to release another something of mine on cassette in April, courtesy of Null Religion Records: http://nullreligion.blogspot.ca/

Nice.

A cassette release?! Very nice!

Thanks! That's one of the most succinct reviews I've received. He does a good job of describing the sound without being ridiculous about it.

Here's an impressively thorough surprise review: http://misfitcity.org/2013/03/16/review-cthulhu-detonator-infernal-machines-album-2012-beneath-the-razor-squeals-and-data-blurts-theres-a-lot-of-composed-thought-going-on/

Probably the best review I`ve received, lots of quotable bits. The guesswork about what the sounds actually are is inaccurate as is always the case, but it was a valiant effort! I definitely appreciate the care that went into this one.

So what you're saying is that you didn't record the sound of a locomotive doing the Charleston(?!)

Well I did do that. But I didn't use organs, or synths or buzzing insects or voices in the spots where he thought I used voices. But those were all reasonable assumptions. I'm happy when people can't tell what I did to get the sounds I got. Half the time I don't even know, unless I do some serious back tracing in my memory, and sometimes even then it's still a big wtf.

Here's my debut performance, last month at a house party:

It's a piece I prepared specifically for the show, a studio version of which is going to be released next month on Null Religion. On Cassette! Anyone here buy cassettes?

It occured to me I should probably give the heads up in this thread that my followup was just released on Null Religion. It's on cassette this time, far more abrasive in tone overall. All the important info regarding that is here:

The Antidote Podcast included a very enthusiastic discussion of the album at the end of their show last week: http://theantidotepodcast.com/2013/05/11/episode-8-rainforest-spiritual-enslavement-the-knife-and-cthulhu-detonator/

I've never really heard my music discussed at length by other people before. Reading positive reviews is one thing, but actually hearing people get excited about it is pretty damn cool. Also, it's a pretty entertaining podcast worth listening to in general. They're both really passionate about music and dig up a lot of interesting stuff.
