i guess it makes sense though. he won over the drugged out ravers in the 90s, and the 'intelligent dance music listeners' after, but to really get in the history books, you have to give boners to the academic crowd. so swinging pianos it is!

yeah i mean, it's not like rdj is coming up with brand new ideas in terms of composition, harmony or such things. he's a killer at making music with beats, i personnally think that no one comes even close to his level of lushness in electronic music, apart from autechre. maybe he's just bored. he's had it all, the fame, the money, the women, now he wants to reach a more "academic" audience, who knows.
