My CRS 4 LP I've talked about for years is finally done and slotted for a tape release. I know I've been a little MIA, but the music goes on. A few new releases ready to get out actually which I'll post soon as well. For now... a super different (and originally composed as always) sound here.

haircuts for men has been on the rotation a lot recently. to me, very good vaporwave "plunderphonics" etc.

came out this year, fun listen

i was looking up some 80s synth stuff today and i came across a video some one made which some computer graphics from the 80s* and the full song "island sunrise" from a Software (the band) record and the comments are so crazy to me. the top comments are people like "omg wow this is like vaporwave before there was vaporwave" or like "P R E - A E S T H E T I C."

it's like lmao you guys are into vaporwave and you've never heard of the 1980s?

*perhaps it's worth noting that the cover art for the record itself uses a still image from this video lol. it kind of seems crazy that this is "vaporwave" when it's just the artistic work of an album from 1988? idk, sometimes i really just don't get what people think vaporwave is. 

i should perhaps clarify that i am not a vaporwave aficionado so it's entirely possible regarding a video like this as vaporwave is canon. 

i am a bit of a collector of synth music like this though so it seems weird this is rendered into its own genre piece by just framing it nostalgically. this genre can be hard for me to navigate precisely bc it does sometimes rely on wholesale re-contextualizations of this sort. in any case i love this kind of "cheesy" weird 80s shit so if people in 2020 are hearing it and getting into it i'm all for it, regardless of what genre they identify it with.
