seriously, have you ever listened to a daft punk album before?

The album has some genuine "big smile on my face" moments. ( Mostly contributed to Neil Rodgers ) But the songs in terms of songwriting are , leaving aside the decent craftmanship of the session musicians, severely lacking in harmonic progression and genuine ideas. Take the first track. Neil Rodgers is killing it on this track. The whole momentum of the instrumental is staggerring me with anticipation. But then comes the vocoder part... Its so disjointed. The vocoder singing is so uninspiring and dull. In stark contrast to the lush instrumental. And thats it. After this section we basicly heard the whole track. It went nowhere.

Compare this to Squarepushers Shobaleader One. Tom a newbie himself in terms of actual songwriting delievered tracks as "plug me in" "endless nights" abstract lover" and "into the blue" with genuine ideas and actual story arcs in musical form.

And the 3rd part of giorgio by marauder is so silly, Tracks like motherboard and Contact are really embarrassing because they are trying to sound somewhat epic and fail so hard.

I like how the futuristic car drives on the correct side of the road. Was this why album failed to speak to US audiences ? I bet the lyrics contained metric too!

i really tried to like Trans, like reeaaaaally hard. I couldn't do it, I was perfectly fine with plundering/sampling from it though for novelty purposes

You are crazy! Transformer man is one of the best songs he's ever written.

Sample and Hold is one of my favorite Neil Young songs. I used to mix in a medley with Bitstream's Monolith and Air's Lucky and Unhappy.
