Sony Expected To Unveil The Next Playstation Tomorrow

I remain skeptical.

The specs seem ambiguous as I imagine they are still ironing them out oddly enough.

I have a hard time believing that they will be able to effectively share screens as seemlessly as they claim. Also they gave no indication about the quality. Anyone who has worked on video knows, its a lot of fucking data to both write to a harddrive, transcoding and uploading.

I think the shared memory was a good idea, I'm still surprised 8GB seems a bit low. When Blizzard came on state I thought, "Well its not gonna be WoW, cuz you need a lot more memory for something like that to look decent"

No actual picture of the console itself gave me no real closure to this unveiling.

I just wasted two hours of my life.

8 GB of Ram is effectively 32x faster than PS3 given the kind of ram it is as well (as I am to be believed by game journalists commentary during show). Seems like more than enough to handle WoW?

the PS3 has a good selection of 1080p games like MGS4, Wipout HD, Uncharted and GOW3 amongst others

 

 

MGS5 (set between 3 and erm 1 about the begining of Foxhound apparently) is due for the PS4

 

I hope Sony have learn't from the fuck up that was the PS3 on release.

they just showed a year old tech video and said it was what they were hoping to bring to the ps4. i dunno, maybe it's just me, but it seems pretty obvious to me that they probably should have just not wasted everyone's time.

i liked the watch dogs demo though, i haven't really been following it that closely and i was impressed with what i saw.

until i noticed the hud was reminding me of assassin's creed, and i realised it's made by the same people. the story, style, graphics and overall >>wow<< factor of the assassin's creed still impresses me. but i try and play them and the gameplay sends my brain in a bored state of comatose and i have to stop. i really, really hope watch dogs isn't similar. (but surely it won't be, because watch dogs has guns. and gun's are cool.)

Spirits Within was a big fuck up, granted, but it's been pretty much all downhill for Square since Hironobu Sakaguchi resigned.

I'm impressed. They showed off some great looking stuff (I don't care for any of the Capcom and Square Enix stuff, though), but the only thing that made me squirt was Watch_Dogs. God damn, that looks beautiful and fucking awesome.

By the way, what was up with that horrible Infamous presentation? That guy was fucking intense in the worst possible way.

Watch Dogs looked kind of cool but I wasn't too impressed with the premise/atmosphere of the world. IDK kind of just felt like GTA/Assassin creed without much charm/feeling. Ubisoft has good ideas but deliver them in kind of a sterile manner for me. Was far more impressed by Knack and The Witness. More imaginative use of graphical horsepower.

I think I will be for the first time switching to Playstation this generation. Growing up it was Nintendo, ending with N64 because the Gamecube sucked. Picked up an Xbox because of Halo and have enjoyed Microsoft's approach until about half-way through the 360 after they fired Peter Moore and replaced him with that EA guy. Since that they have been taking a more Nintendo Wii approach of providing more casual friendly gaming experiences under the guise of it being innovating. Smart business practices as they are now performing well but for the sacrifice of taking less risks. Sony on the other hand this generation seems to be sitting where Microsoft was before they "jumped in", as they have nothing to really lose at this point and their focus is to grab the core gamers and have the rest fall into place with simple architecture and UI.

Yes, Watch_Dogs looks like Assassin's Creed set in today's time without all the stupid templar stuff that they've been swimming around in for the past 4 years, and that's a good thing.

Watchdogs was indeed the best thing about this presentation, but it's also a game we had already seen demoed last year at E3, and a multi platform title to boot (although I'm sure it'll suck ass on current gen consoles). I couldn't give a shit about infamous or killzone, the FF tech demo from last year? Quantic Dream didn't show anything? no last guardian? wat?

Absolutely. The bokeh and depth of field looked fucking phenomenal.

I really hope someone calls the next gen for "the best gen" at one point because then I can allow myself to go punch someone in the face.

Apparently Sony has shrunk so much that Apple could buy it with their quarterly profits.

Did they at least confirm the console name? Is it playstation 4, or is that still unknown as well?

edit: I guess it's playstation 4. They don't care about bad luck in japan anymore.

So I just saw the trailer the Sony official youtube channel posted ... other than the poor choice of clips (and music!), it looks like everything showcased in the trailer could be accomplished on the PS3 also, but we're gonna have to buy the PS4 eventually as there will be no new games for the PS3 coming out about two or three years from now. Sucks.

Just saw the new Watchdogs demo. Looks pretty bad.

The graphics were alright, but the animation and AI seems no better than what we have now. Super lame looking compared to what they showed at E3 last year.

Also, I keep reading comments all over the place from people going "this looks so much better than GTA V". lololololol, no.

There is absolutely no way for you to judge whether the AI is any better than what we have today. Also, are you blind? Watch_Dogs has real time bokeh processing, and looks like it has fantastic physics, awesome particle effects, whether effects, and as for the animations... come on, man, the game hasn't shipped yet. What we're seeing is probably only an alpha.

I don't know. I watched it in 720p. And I'm definitely not blind. Also, I just said that it looked 'alright', not 'like total garbage'.

When he snuck up on that dude threatening the woman with a knife, for example. How could he not see that weird guy with the trenchcoat and a gun in his hand crawling towards them?! He was right there out in the open. Total Assassin's Creed moment,. Might be for gameplay reasons or whatever, but it just seems really stupid and completely takes me out of the experience.

I don't buy the whole alpha/beta thing. Developers love to smack that on to every single screenshot and video they put out there, even a few weeks before release. If the running animation improves before release, good. If not, lol.

Maybe I'm just expecting too much of these super fancy machines that's been eight years underway.
