they're trying to pass it off as their own. I left a comment with positive feedback saying "sick. pierre bachelet - rue chinoise, right?" and they deleted it :|

(Bob Wilson) Sorry... you created that reality tunnel, you can find your way out... You built the Trap... you know the design better than anyone...sagatsfz3stage.jpg

in any case, awesome find!

I always wondered which MGS track he sampled! It's something I saw cited early on but never searched for.

What even would be the goal of something like this? I mean if they achieved any degree of popularity, someone would be bound to go "hey dude that's not your song yo". Best case scenario for this is a few dozen people call you a cool dude on a social media site

Superficial social media "success" by earning fans who don't really care about the music itself really is the endgame - situations like this one. I think a few do it seeing that they'll add enough casual listeners or launch into some mindless spam-heavy DJ career. It really reveals the shallow goals and mindsets of those who do it. Buck UK is a good example - he deleted the stolen track but never apologized and acts like it never occurred. It seems new listeners don't care. On the flipside, a lot of UK garage/bass fans, ones I chatted with on turntable.fm or the ones on the dubstep forum, called him out and have no respect for him.

Some people also through there stuff up on beatport ASAP before being caught and deny every stealing anything, like this incident. It's not just delusional small-time producers, there's the Zomby and Timberland incidents - they never admitted to blatantly ripping entire bars from underground producers and using them in very successful singles even when they were questioned and criticized by media outlets and listeners. The Timberlake one really shows how much copyright is being used to the major labels and publishers advantage and not independent artists, since he basically fought off all lawsuit efforts.

it's stuff like this that turned me off music sharing sites. I've found some cool music on BC SC et all, but wayyyyy too many people are all about the numbers. It ain't just thiefing - dudes treat their tracks like birdseed, no passion, no sense of adventure, just wave after wave of safe, trendy output designed to draw in as many listeners as possible

And it gets really goofy when 9/10ths of the feedback isn't genuine either, just "omg man this is the best groove i've ever heard, plz follow me back". I blame reddit somehow

(also I've mentioned it in other threads but I'm still getting new followers on SC despite having had no tracks up there for months, which just proves my point BUT ANYWAYS)

sites like this dont help

Why do I need SoundCloud followers?

As you probably already know by now, SoundCloud is the most widespread and popular music sharing platform. It is to music what YouTube is to videos. Anyone is able to share their music. You can easily access a larger audience and get feedback, comments on your tracks. This gives sharing a viral potential: with minimal expenditure and effort, your tracks can become global hits. Followers immediately see the stuff you post, and listen to them. They may favorite your song, or share it with others. This can create a nice domino effect, and as soon as you post a song it will be heard by the masses.

How do I get them?

There are many methods available to you. Some are free, some aren't. As per usual, the free methods take more time. They say time is money, and you either will have to pay for them with a lot of time and effort, or get them through our shortcut, and it will cost you only a little. First of all you need to be active on Soundcloud and join many groups that are related to your musical genre. But first make sure your profile is looking slick. Pick a nice avatar picture and, other than cosmetics, link your other websites on your profile if you have them.

I want followers fast, what can you do for me?

When you realize how hard it is to actually be up to date with all the trends on SoundCloud, you might want to use our services to boost yourself ahead of your competition. Because we want you to spend time what you do best, and that is producing amazing music, we want you to forget about promotion and leave it to us. The deal is great for both. You will have more time to devote to your music, and let us take care of the rest. Our role is to make sure you have followers that will ensure you the exposure your tracks deserve. Exposure is the essential component to the success formula: exposure + production quality + great music = SUCCESS.

Gaining Soundcloud Followers

Finding soundcloud followers can be difficult, this is why some resort to buying followers via third party promoters and advertisers. There are quite a few sites online that offer to help promote a users profile and content on sound cloud but the reality is that one really needs to look no further than soundcloudpromotions.com when looking to purchase followers. Using the internal resources at hand, users can be matched to and introduced to an audience that will be not only larger than what typically can be reached, but also more receptive of the users particular brand of sound thereby speeding up what can be a grueling process. Why not grow your audience? Sharing your talent on Soundcloud is only the first step to gaining your target audience, why not augment your network by buying followers? With several different purchase packages to choose from, there is no reason you can’t select the right fit for your budget.

Yeah I'm guessing they didn't get permission so are kinda laying low, though I recognized the riff almost immediately so chances are they will get wind of it eventually.
