This thread has inspired me to get rid of porn. Not because it's bad or sinful or anything, but because I believe my pleasure-seeking behavior, which I need to put under control, correlates with aspects of my life like my porn use. I am also interested in the increase of energy levels.

I didn't take it as a personal attack, my point was that it's interesting that of all the points made in this topic, BT decided to isolate that particular quotation as if it was offensive- as you were apart of that 'quotation thread' my response was mainly to BT but I did also incorporate your points as a base for going into more detail about my specific opinion.

you misunderstood me. my english isn't very good and i apologize for that. what i was trying to say is that the media focus on catholic child molesters, which creates a cognitive bias and distorts the collective perception of catholicism. when in parallel, some really serious criminal cases of pedophile networks fail, which leads the average person to draw the conclusion that the accusations against pedophile networks are false because those trials fail most of the time. i don't know how to put it more simply, i hope it makes sense.

i'm not saying that i'm cool with a catholic raping a child, i'm obviously as shocked by that as the next person. i'm just pointing out the fact that focusing on such events and forgetting the rest is very blinding because it leads you to think that only priests rape children. and that just because a trial fails, it's proof that the accusation was false.

Personally, I don't see the media focusing on just priests as pedophiles- however I'm british and as such I have been subjected to months of Jimmy Saville news cover which was not to do with the priests but politicians and other people in influential social standing.

Like many in the thread, I've been inspired to give up porn as well. I really enjoy pornography, but when I surf for it nowadays (versus when I was a Freshman in high school) I end up running into a bunch of violent videos that really make me hate the world.
