wow, i'm getting a total price of £14.64 to have that amazon.ca one shipped standard (they say 6-8 weeks, i'm sure quicker though...) to the UK. can this be right?

edit: or still only £17.63 for 1-2 week delivery...

It could be right. What's the worst that could happen? If price go up or if they never get the vinyls will they offer money back? I believe so.

Another thing that could happen is you get screwed by customs and end up paying the same amount as Bleep's charging, just saying...

Bleep can fuck the fuck off at 30 quid for a 1x12''

Plus isn't a red translucent material going to take away the audio benefits of a 180g pressing ?

I've never noticed any benefits of a 180 g pressing in the first place. Seriously, there are factors that make an audible (to me) difference in vinyl reproduction quality, but the amount of material used per se isn't one of them.

Don't know if it's still available in the same formats but the Esper Editions were originally available in FLAC (which is the version I have).

I'm absolutely not one of those audiophile nuts (hell there's absolutely no way I'd be able to tell the difference between a 192kbps mp3 or a 24 bit wav) but I generally notice that 180g vinyl prints are far better than, erm whatever the other type are ! Mainly it's the dynamics that seem much more pronounced for me on the heavier pressings - like the whole thing has been ran through an expander.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

To each his own but I'm rather strongly convinced that the 180 g "effect" is confounded with how well the record was mastered/cut/pressed overall. I think some of the places that do these 180 g issues are just better at/more careful about the whole process basically.

Same goes for color indeed, it doesn't seem to matter much if the pressing is otherwise identical.

I'd take a 120 g colored 12" cut over a 180 g black LP type cut any day though. Like I said, to each his own.

You're probably right about that !

That is obscenely overpriced. And as good as it is, I spend the whole soundtrack waiting for the end title track, which is one of the greatest pieces of music ever created.

Yup. Still buying it though, since I don't feel like buying a bootleg.

Ah OK - I was thinking of the brown SAW II album (which I've heard sounds pretty shitty). I'm wondering if that was pressed using the same method as is used for making picture discs, but they used a single colour on the surface, rather than using actual brown vinyl.

Warp are renowned for having terrible coloured vinyl, I dunno why. I've got a few coloured releases from other artists/labels, and they do fare much better.

It is shitty, unfortunately.

i've never been hit with customs before, and for something worth £10, i can't imagine any problems. went ahead and ordered it because it was such a good price. as you say xox, if they never actually get it in stock i've lost nothing and i can cancel any time - one of the nice things about Amazon is that they don't charge until it ships, unlike Bleep et al.

I just bought it on amazon.ca...shall see.

I remember picking up the saw2 vinyl reissue cheap through amazon us, about 19quid delivered. I was actually quite surprised when it turned up, especially when uk shops were selling it for close to 40.

So I'll take a chance on this one too.

I too got my SawII repress off amazon uk for around 15 pound. Next day there were only ones selling it for close to 50.

it's being pressed at Camarillo, the same place that the audiophile version of Drukqs was pressed.

nice.

edit: jumped the gun a bit there. it's not the same place, apparently.

Just got this in the post today. Unable to play it due to my turntable meeting with falling speaker death, but it's looking good.

Yeah, still have an order open with amazon.ca... I presume they'll just never get it in or what?

Don't know, who knows, maybe... I canceled the .ca order.

You better order it from somewhere else cause it's a limited edition.

yeah, it's a numbered edition too. mine is 1520

I'm still waiting for mine...can't wait. How is it? Looks, quality of the cover and pictures inside, the sound?

Ah well fuck it, ordered a ridiculously expensive copy from norman. Part of me thinks I shouldn't be encouraging this sort of thing but the escape from new york vinyl still gets repeated spins round here, and the bladerunner soundtrack is one of my all time faves.
