If you're using a DAW you could just nudge the midi sequence ahead of the rest of the track by, say... 20ms.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

but then the midi sequence is a hell to edit. At least it's the way it is in Reaper as the grid of the midi items is the same as the sequencer's one. I already tried to compensate some latencies so and I quickly gave up and try to find another solution.

I actually kinda like a bit of sloppy timing, tbh. My current live setup (netbook w/seq24, cheap usb midi cable controlling a QY70 and an ES-1) drops/delays notes every now and then; it's kinda awesome actually.

20ms is still too much by an order of magnitude, and I see no reason why this synth would have such lag at the midi input. it's just a USB MIDI thing ffs, there's not much that can go wrong with it, and you'd think that the reviewers would have picked up on a noticable flaw like this.

no offense but are you smoking pot, and if so, very regularly?

how would that affect my gear? or are you just referring to my posting inaccurate information initially? Not that it's any of your business, and it's off topic, but no, I have been on a weed break for about a month. my thoughts have been a bit scattered lately, it's due to stress not drugs.

In any case, it is a fact that there is a noticeable lag on the MS-20 midi input, or at least on mine. I can verify, because I get the same lag when the signal is coming directly from the USB port & when it's from a USB midi hub that is also hooked up to a Dark Energy, both going into the same mixer, with the DE performing with near-perfect timing.

Hmm, that's a shame. Anyone have experience with the Volca Keys' MIDI yet? I'll be using it either with a keyboard or my guitar's MIDI pickup.

lol ok I found out I just have lag on my line-in for my computer. 20ms is pretty much right now that it's going into my mixer instead. I can live with that, but yeah, I still have to offset all my notes. Easier in FL studio than some other programs at least.

There's a reason the call it the MS 20, it's a reference to the midi lag. 20ms/ms20. I still find it hard to believe though, there's got to be something weird going on over at your place.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your email. As the Korg Australia said via their Facebook page "the units Volca Beats and Bass units will be moving SLOWLY into customers hands and to be patient with back orders as there are plenty to fill." The Volca Keys units will be making their first appearance at the end of the month.

We received 2 units for each store at the moment of the Bass and Beats which means 1 of each will go to the customers who orders first back in February. The next shipment of Volcas is due late October and another one late November. We dont know how many well be getting, but we know Korg are working round the clock to produce these units for the world.

All we can do is sit tight and wait patiently.

Wow, I'm really impressed. This thing is seriously legit.

People were wondering if this thing was gonna be capable of bass. Fucking yes.

This synth is perfect for me.

I love limited gear. This thing has one waveform (which happens to be my favorite waveform). Three-note polyphony is perfect for me (I grew up the 4-note-polyphony of the MicroKorg).

I love its gritty tone. The delay is beautiful and dirty. In poly mode--with a touch of detune--this thing has a hint of Yamaha CS-series wonkiness that I love so much about the Analord stuff. IMO anyone who likes wonky analog needs to buy this.

Shit, now I'm thinking about the other two Volca's...*looks around apartment for things to sell*

Oh nice! I guess it'll be worth the wait. I was gonna cancel my order and get an MS20 mini instead but I might keep it and get the MS20 anyway!

Oh and BTW:

Before I got it I was planning on controlling it with a midi keyboard

or a DAW or something

on account of the very small 'keys'

but

I really like the sound and feel of performing on this thing

anyone who's heard my stuff knows I like stuff performed, loose, off-the-grid, wonky, etc

and playing this thing as-is is perfect for that aesthetic

alright I'll quit yapping about this thing now

I'm still hoping to control it with my guitar. Does it respond to pitch bend messages?

does anyone know any news on the Volca's for UK/Ireland peeps? My mate ordered the Keys from Thomann.de, they said it'd be deliverd in the next 8-10 days, but i think that's a stock response...and he ordered it like last month

I'm in the same boat, I have all 3 on order at thomann.de. When I ordered, it said 4.10., now it says 6.12. ... apparently one batch went by we're that far back in the waiting line. I'm still waiting for them to respond on this matter.

I pre-ordered in May, so I'm frothing at the mouth at this point.
