I love Body Touch.

But, I listening to it in my car this morning on spotify, and then eyesdontlie came on, and gods be damned if it didn't click with me, now I love it. Something about hearing it with massive bass makes all the difference.

Both songs are fucking massive.

Travis is the best electronic musician right now imo - nobody can touch him.

I think he's fucking talented, one of the most interesting producers of 'dance' music at the moment by far. Although I'm going to hate myself for saying this, I even think someone like Oneohtrix point never is a better electronic musician because he seems less concerned with being part of a specific genre. The one main thing that prevents me from giving the same props you did to Travis is that he keeps his styles very carefully confined. For example, he is behind what is in my opinion one of THE best if not the best later period Autechre inspired albums under the Syndrone alias. If he cross pollinated any of his styles like mixing a dash of Syndrone with his newer work I would feel that he is an unstoppable steamroller, right now I don't feel like he even has the potential of doing that, he plays it a little too safe genre-wise. On the other hand I never have really loved anything he did under the machinedrum alias until Rooms. He has landed on something really special with that sound, i just hope he takes it to even greater heights and doesn't get too comfortable with it, ie like Burials 'expected' take on electronic music.

edit: for me right now 2562 and Machinedrum are the 2 main producers I'm paying attention to when it comes to dancefloor centric electronic music sort of playing off the current trends.

I actually love that Travis chases trends - in fact that's part of what distinguishes him. He really dives into these modern mini genres that most watmmers including myself dismiss. Somebody like OPN strikes me as being MORE safe - it's boomkat front page ready ambient/noise/library music that while great, is never going to be heard by folks who aren't already predisposed to enjoy something like that. Travis puts himself out there in every way - he makes dance floor music with real soul and creativity.

His production is top notch, but for me it's really the personal touches he adds to each song that makes it feel like you're getting a glimpse behind the v-neck. I don't know of any other producer who works in the space he does, despite him dipping his toes into all the fads that come along.

I don't mean to suck his golden mustache or anything but jesus christ he's good

I've loved that Syndrone album for years and had no idea it was this guy until Mr Erlichman mentioned it in another thread.

Still haven't heard any Machinedrum, where's a good place to start?
