SR4
yeah pretty much. although one could make the argument that capitalism is just as innately political (as socialism would), because private or corporate ownership is what created the immense profits of the Industrial Era Quote A system of economics based on the private ownership of capital and production inputs, and on the production of goods and services for profit. The production of goods and services is based on supply and demand in the general market (market economy), rather than through central planning (planned economy). Capitalism is generally characterized by competition between producers. Other facets, such as the participation of government in production and regulation, vary across models of capitalism. It would be a lost cause to try to separate them from each other in practice. I understand, but there need to be checks and balances to 'regulate' the (in)dependence, i think. In the separation of (governmental) powers, there should also be a place for the economic powers. In a transparent way. More transparent than in todays cash- lobby flows. Influence should be made transparent. So, next to the executive, judicial and legislative powers in government, there should also be economic powers made explicit, as they are, like you say, deeply entrenched in the political system in one way or another. Montesquieu version 2.0 , i guess. LimpyLoo
eww I just look back and I wrote "Any Rand" and I can't edit it (and I can't upgrade my account because I'm fucking poor right now) *has ocd fit* Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/79441-russell-brand-destroys-msnbc-host/page/10/#findComment-2097300 Share on other sites
goDel
Hahaha, i had to look three times to even see that it actually said any rand instead of ayn. My freemason mind automatically read ayn. SR4
The IMF? The Federal Reserve? How exactly is the economic role in the political realm not transparent? Besides, "entrenching" an official economic branch of gov't (im not even sure what you mean by this) is completely counter to capitalism. Capitalism was/is wildly successful because it is fluid. Good point. But that economic part is outside of the clutches of democracy. The political playingfield seems uneven. Capitalism is so much more fluid, that it's already way more globalized than the governmental branches can ever achieve. manmower
Those Fox clowns frankly weren't any worse than the Young Turks bit someone posted earlier. And I have mixed feelings about Brand in general. The cynic in me thinks it's all just promo for his Messiah Complex tour and DVD, or he's trying to see if just acting like a Messiah will automatically make you one or something. I don't necessarily disagree with much of what he's saying, but I don't think it's interesting food for thought or very constructive either, he's just super-verbose and emphatic about issues that bug lots of people and that's all there is to it. Also, he sure talks a lot and loud (as the Helmet song goes) for a dude who couldn't deal with having a partner with a bigger career than his, who's her own boss. You'd think that would be a fucking cornerstone of his 21st century enlightened/awakened man skillset, but he couldn't handle it at all. Wanted her to put her career on hold and make him some babies, and dumped her when she wouldn't. Forgive me for not being so sure whether the guy is all that 'awake'. *cheers loudly at 3:30* Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/79441-russell-brand-destroys-msnbc-host/page/10/#findComment-2097463 Share on other sites
Guest Gary C
He dumped her? What an idiot. She doesn't look very hot in that video. And I bet she's quite churchy in real-life, but what an idiot. I figured he was sleeping around. Guest zaphod
weird that people know the couple personally to make judgement calls like that. katy perry sure seemed bitchy in that david blaine special. dead eyes, like a doll's eyes. manmower
If he can tell just by looking at David Cameron's face that the guy shouldn't be a prime minister then it seems fair that I could use the published statements of his ex-wife to judge his character. We can agree to disagree on that but that's how I feel. Guest skibby
Russell Brand totally made mincemeat out of that so called journalist. Never before has anyone been given such a trouncing in public. He said what every 16 year old WISHES they could say to their parents. With all due respect, that codger has been torn a new one. Russell Brand for Prime Minister of the New Anarchy Empire!
