it's egotistical to care who made music, that's the thing that i think rdj is maybe trying to coax out into the light. thinking "THAT guy is suck compared to THIS guy" is actually a pretentious self assertion of being able to recognize and rate quality. so, not only does claiming ownership of music entail the basic form of ego, i.e. "i made that good ass shit, fuck yeah," but the branded music then goes on to accumulate a limitless amount of ego crust in the form of comments that very commonly are colored with that egotistical judgement, which further imbues that stinging ego sense into something that should be unadulterated beauty: music.

please don't take this is a personal attack on anyone, i'm putting what i think is an interesting observation into harsh terms just to make it clear, not to assign blame or anything. obviously i do the ego judgement thing despite myself, and i'm probably more pretentious than most of you.
