You should read the SNL oral history book. Chevy Chase is a fuck.

Apparently he's a draft dodger...which I don't mind but apparently he achieved this by claiming he was gay and that's kind of lame. Also, in his account of the Bill Murray fight he went way overboard on denying his rather comfortable upper middle-class/upper class background in NYC and saying he grew up in East Harlem.

I always thought Bill Murray was pretty funny but I find it difficult to get past the arrogance. Chevy just comes across a lot more likable to me.

I know. In fact, I think he's practically a stock actor and that his asshole nature lends to most of his abilities. He achieved some great moments but that's why I and most others find the comparison quite stacked in Murray's favor.

Chevy had something. He really did. But he sabotaged his own career and burned every bridge. I think his character in Caddyshack might even be better than Bill Murray's, too bad he couldn't sustain that for long. Plus, I think his humor only works coming from a young, arrogant guy.
