Note the spelling of 'honours' compared to his country of origin to assess the validity of that quote

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

damn, electronic music owes a lot to the Velvet Underground, as well as other genres like shoe gazer and drone.

hmm, never thought about this, how so?

John Cale's use of electric viola - he frequently used drones on VU songs.

Saw this guy live back in 06. The performance kinda sucked. But I'll always love the early albums. Rest in peace, you wild son of a bitch.

It fucking fooled me too, classic stuff. (Hope he can reproduce the goods for future fatalities, as he's intimated)

Stephen Fry retweeted it then promptly deleted and the same with Rough Trade.

Internets, eh?

Lou was a Dude though, nonetheless. *doffs imaginary cap*

It's really weird. Lou Reed just seemed immortal for some reason. My first reaction was 'Wait, that can't be right...'

The first thing I remember from Lou Reed was seeing this video as a kid. I must have been 9 years old or so and it freaked the hell out of me. The song is far from his best, but video is pretty badass:

He made me scratch my head more than inspire, but his no-fucks-given attitude to creating art was very admirable. He was a true artist down to the bone.

At least we got Lulu.

and Lou Bega

  Quote

Bega himself pointed out that he was still among the living in a post on his Facebook page on Monday.

The post: “R.I.P. Lou Reed the genius who took walks on the wild side. P.S.: I have been receiving tons of condolences because of a journalist confusing our identities. Lou Bega sends his condolences to Mr. Reed’s family.”

At present, the name of the journalist and media outlet that confused the two artists is not known.

Even though Bega, now 38 and in good health, made the clarification, fans continued to register their dismay on his Facebook page.

One of the more inspired comments said that, “Monica, Erica and Rita [three lusty women referenced in Mambo No. 5] send a little bit of their condolences.”

According to several sources, the Bega death rumour was the result of a Twitter hoax that began shortly after Reed’s death on Sunday.

Another rumour circulating online suggested that the Internet sensation known as Grumpy Cat had passed away. As with Bega, Grumpy is alive and well at last check.
