oh gees

stand back while i open a vein in sorrow

i just cant go on any longer

oh wait, i don't have the capacity to get all emotional over some app, which is still available in versions that can play mp3s just like it could 10yrs ago. they just aren't making updates that don't matter because it already played mp3s 10+yrs ago. this is basically just a symbolic gesture and the symbolism ultimately means nothing, at least to me, even if i was there when mp3s/winamp first hit the scene. downloading a single mp3 over the course of a couple hrs on a 14.4baud

maybe i'm just heartless, but i have no tears to shed. it had it's run, and people can still use it.

I remember it always started to play that gym class orgie randomly whenever I tried to open a stream, because I never fixed the standard file extension settings. :cat:

that must've been handy when you had friends round and wanted to play them some music

OK, so if Winamp is no longer - for when I get a new phone (or wipe this one when installing Cyanogenmod), what's the best Android music player (must support gapless playback and have lockscreen controls)

The answer appears to be n7player by the way.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

who else here stayed up really late smoking weed playing with the winamp visualization generators? They were capable of some really interesting stuff. I remember I had a hard crash crash and lost some music I was working on but I was mostly sad I lost like 100 winamp visualizations I spent weeks making.

No weed but enjoyed making all the same - frequently managed to grind my system to a near halt with some of the OTT amount of simultaneous effects running at once. Milkdrop was my fave visualiser though, was the only reason I kept Windows ME on my system (found out my video card/drivers were so wonky that the only OS that was stable using them was ironically what's historically known as the least stable OS)

But no retina support

of course it supports your retinas, you just look at the image and your retinas see it.

Anyone else find the Winamp shuffle to be a little weird - like it wasn't 'properly' random but more like a drunk/wander number generator. Obviously a contentious topic about how random is random, but switching to Foobar the shuffle seemed more over the place. Having moved from Winamp Android to n7Player I've already noticed the same thing - so I'm guessing they must've used the same random number algorithm.

Yeah, actually I remember back when I used a minidisc player to listen to music, I'd put a winamp playlist of my entire electronic music collection on shuffle overnight, recording to a minidisc to listen to in the morning. There were a few tracks that would always appear, for some reason..

My Winamp Anrdoid had a penchant for: UNKLE - The Runaway, Autechre - see on see, Prodigy - Invaders Must Die & Chemical Brothers — Brothers Gonna Work It Out (Part 4). It wouldn't touch any artists beginning with P (apart from that aforementioned Prodigy track), would only play Aphex once in a blue moon, and had a thing for the album Nine Inch Nails - Quiet Tracks
