Roland finally releasing evolution to TR-808

You know to be honest they probably don't actually even have an engineering team that can do analog any more. They are probably trying to manage the best they can without having to rebuild their entire r&d staff.

This is spot on. It's not about how hard it is to make an analogue recreation of one of their classics it's the cost to fundamentally change a good chunk of a seriously big company. One (of the many) reasons why Korg started slow with the Monotron and slowly worked towards their more recent adventures in analogue is because of this. And even with that slow step change Korg are still struggling to get the availability of Volcas.

Yep. they would have to completely rebuild supply chains + engineering teams. Who knows, maybe they are tied contractually to some big chip maker or something. Still. C'MON.

Roland can't have an analog department, because they are Japanese, from outer space. Space ppl don't give a shit about funk. Earth- dirt- humans are funkay. Super space ppl are about tech and moving forward, even if it means nothing. Like a human from the dirt will spend their lives realizing the true coordination abilities of their body and mind to become some statuesque figure of animal beauty; whilst sexing, their partner will feel the tribal vibez from the ether and all of time in the now; jungle juice pumping like rapids on fire. A Japanese from outer space will just invent a machine to shoot a lazer into their sexual partner's head to make it orgasm explode far past humans were intended to feel; all whilst not moving an inch when activating said device, except for maybe to sip an espresso or some elitist tea that nobody even knows is being brewed on Earth yet.

However in today's music styles there are certain elements which have to be created digitally.

What kind of logic is this? They are blaming their design choices (ie not using analog audio circuitry) on the demands of today's music styles?

Talk about badly written copy. The marketing is basically saying "You want analog sound, but you really want digital".

The Japanese is basically saying what the subz are saying... Certain things in modern music are impossible with analog, so they chose digital cuz digital can cover those techs plus emulate analog.

But they definitely understand the analog sound, buuuut who knows how well they've done with what. Perhaps they included digital pitch modulation random shits to emulate analog imperfections, etc.

That being said, every single cynical sonnbiznatch is looking forward to at least seeing what this set of hardware turns out to be.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.
