Die Antwoord - Donker Mag

I can only make out the part where it goes something like "Without examples, without models I began to believe voices in my head. That I was a, a freak, that I am broken, that there was something wrong with me, that I will never be lovable. Years later I find the courage to admit that I am transgendered and that this does not mean that I am unlovable." or something. This track is pretty deep imho tbh

idk guys, not to be the partypooper but i'm kind of underwhelmed. feel like the track is not really going anywhere, lacks some of the old 'twin tricks with stuff happening every bar. don't hear any trademark close reverb on the 202. that breakdown around the 5 minute mark is pretty nifty though, whats going on there? sounds like a cat removing the osc cv patch from a doepfer nuculus 3k or sth like that?

quite good / 10

So what do you guys think about rdj's rapping? I was a bit disappointed that he didn't produce the track, but his mad flow kind of makes up for it.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Didn't expect a cornish rapper in my lifetime but he did a pretty good job.

I think it's actually pretty cool. My favorite part is when he's making the elephant cries, I hope we'll hear more of that some day!

is it just me or does that look like a very poorly drawn and sloppy tattoo? Maybe it's still healing and puffy or something but it looks like a very amateur job, perhaps that was by design to go along with all his other horribly amateurish looking tattoos (continuing the joke?)

All his tattoos are poorly drawn as you mentioned, so it's likely to be a continuation. Someone from the hood doing it with no skills. I find it funny as the whole tattoo thing among humans still doesn't sit with me. If you do a stupid and ugly thing why not do it stupid and ugly.

Funny thing is he doesn't give a shit how ugly people think it is, or how people judge him in general, which is why I admire him.

On a side note: "donker mag" is Dutch for "dark is allowed" or " dark is ok". And south african is closely related to dutch...

He said that most of his tattoos he has done himself or has a friend help him. I imagine he goes to someone with a gun for the more detailed ones.

this track is so good that cum squirted out of my ears and got my headphones wet which in turn electrocuted me and caused a hidden 8hr aphex track to be played in my brain in 1 second.

Do you really believe in such tired marketing slogans? There are millions of people in the world who is exactly like you said and there's nothing of note in this. Or is that about how he cares a lot about creating his look and then "doesn't give a shit". Yeah, admirable.

Marketing slogan? Dunno where you got that from brah. I just happen to be a DA fan for the past four years and understood his sentiments from his lyrics and interviews. You're either a fan or you're not - simple, really.

I got it from what it's worth as a stand-alone phrase, not a quote. I followed DA from the beginning, too. Regardless of being a fan or not, I can't see how their looks (created by stylists initially) can be considered doesn't giving a shit, what he will do with all these tattoos - enjoy it at home in the mirror? No way. It's intentional work towards audience. Just unconventional one.

i hate about everything about die antwoord. their music, their singing, their looks, their marketing strategy.

i don't get how one could genuinely like their crap.
