The two slow choral sections are pretty emotive in here, but holy fuck the fugal section starting around 10:25 and going to the end is intense.

Really surprised to find a video of the Berg Quartet playing as well. Nice.

Amnesiac was one of the first albums I really, really got into, there's so much good on that album.

This song gets me every time:

I'm still pleasantly surprised Ital Tek sampled and/or cleared that without issue. Sampling is such a gamble, many people have run into issues for far less noticeable/less mainstream samples.

"Pyramid Song" and Amnesiac in general have a special place in my heart. I saw the video for the song right before I left the UK and waited months and months for the album, which I got at xmas. It was the first "weird" album I ever owned, and on top of that I moved to a high school where I didn't know anyone so I listened to it truly by myself. Really haunting and engrossing for me. Lot of melancholy nostalgia for that song in particular.

^ word. it's probably my favourite song of theirs. or maybe Codex. I like the slower, spaced out numbers. and I really like how Ital Tek reworked that piano riff.

Yeah, this exactly. It was the first album I bought on vinyl, and it was right at the height of my music discovery. It was during that time that I was discovering Autechre, Aphex, Radiohead, Venetian Snares, Neutral Milk Hotel, Jon Hopkins, Battles, The Boredoms, like all these crazy new types of music that I didn't even know existed. Whenever I listen to songs I was getting into at that time it makes me remember how interesting everything was, kind of like getting into a relationship for the first time and everything being beautiful and exciting and you'd never thought music could make you feel like that before. And it makes me miss that feeling, too. I'll never experience listening to Autechre for the first time again.

Cheesy as it is, it is still a pretty depressing song -

Only one of his 'softer' songs that I've really dug -

And then this just cause melodies give me the feels -

I know that feeling exactly. In recent years I hadn't felt it, especially in the ratraces of trending/hyped music. I've started listening to college radio and obscure podcasts and seeing local acts again for that reason. Part of the reason I've gotten really into underground cassettes too.

Also, I realized I liked the new Beck song for a very specific reason:

the song, not the video (possibly nsfw dog death from a movie in the video)

also my father really likes Yo La Tengo. pretty cool band.
