Yah, Cylob totally vanished, cuz he was too IDM for his own good. He was programming his own tech before it even became a bandwagon and was writing braindance pop tracks before geek crossover even became a legit underground scene to eventually get killed by mashup and shoegaze.

I would bet like, 27 yen, that he is indeed, working as a programmer or- gasp- IT dyude.

But then again, Rewind was popular for a time, so maybe it gets played daily nowadays on every Indonesian radio station or something. So he be makin' mad royalties.

Lots of his back catalogue is just not my thing. Something medical about it, too precise, not enough true feels.

Yeah Cylob records are great, weather it is his pop anthems (Rewind, Living in the 1980s), his early rephlex records (my favorite ones i guess, Cylobian Sunset, the first Kinesthesia eps) or his computer based tracks, (Cylob Music System eps, Cylobotnia). Perhaps after a while, he will be back at making tracks.

Yah, it'd be pretty interesting to hear what a new Cylob release would sound like. His vibez were defo "Cylob", yet always progressing in interesting ways. For example, DMX Krew is generally good, but he'll always be outputting some 80's shit. Or Squarepusher is masterpiece master, but you know he'll just be outputting *jadjksndsadnasldnldkn* type shit for the next 20 years.

Actually come to think of it, maybe it's good if Cylob never releases anything new. Cuz Global Goon started being prolific with releases, and besides Syntheme shiz, the output basically just made me realize how good Vatican Nitez was. Or like Photek- who is still absolute legend for his Ni Ten Ichi Ryu stylez- basically made me sad, hearing his later, somewhat bland-in-comparison works. Listening to any Photek from the past 10 years is like watching an Olympic level gymnast struggling to just walk 30 years later.

Perhaps I should make a homepage campaign to support the concept of Cylob never releasing again, but then I'd realize that I have better things to do in life. This fear of paling in comparison to past works, is perhaps why "aphex twin" will never release again.

He has made some of the best electro I have ever heard and has always had a unique and individual approach to melodies and synth work. Here's to hoping he can overcome his hearing issues to release some new material, or even just old stuff from the vaults. I personally love the Music System volumes and Spider Report and want to hear more from those sessions.

Yah, like 7 years ago I pulled all-nighters for weeks to work on music on modafinil, but the fucked up thing was that modafinil fucks up hearing, so I could not mix worth shit. OH THE IRONY.
