It bothers me that people talk about "we" when talking about a sports team they cheer for.

Why? It's a well established social construct. Perfectly normal inclusive language.

Also the match was flattering to the Germans, but Muller is a machine.

To answer mirezzi: because Portugal have managed some decent results in recent international tourneys.

Fuuuuuuu now we have to listen to Americans bleat about their shitty win. I hope the Germans and the Portuguese stomp the fuck out of them.

The Dempsey goal excellent I thought.

Not really spectacular, but a highly skilled goal. He's in a lot of speed and the angle was very sharp, considering where the goalkeeper was placed.

I think it just sounds stupid. Your fat ass on the couch had nothing to do what some other people did on a pitch thousands of miles away.

Holy shit, I do not have any idea how we beat Ghana. I'm glad we won, but if we don't shape the fuck up we're going to die. Oh, and:

In fairness to Pepe, he's used to playing for Los Blancos! If it were La Liga, he probably wouldn't have even been booked.

True true.

Also - Meireles' beard is outstanding. It should have its own number.

yeah the initial turn was quality but they didn't make much of it.

That game reminded me of watching Buckeye games back when Jim Tressel was still coach. We played worse, every moment was nail-bitingly close, and somehow we still came out with a higher score. Howard was pretty much Jesus that game.
