why would you not want to support bandcamp? they're offering artists a really easy and professional way of selling their own music, hosting tons of WAVs etc. 15% is nothing, and it's great if they can survive on that. they gotta stay alive too, obviously!

I'd be interested in following those of you on Bandcamp. Most of the music I buy is based on recommendations from this site, so I expect you have some stuff in your collections that would appeal to me.

Post your collection if you don't mind being followed.

Mine is http://bandcamp.com/davidallen

this is a level playing field. I think you will see artists established from the 90s on embrace this format because it dismisses all the bullshit. It's about the music, it spreads organically, and from word of mouth, as music should IMO.

Bandcamp is pretty much the only place where I buy digital music (except for rephlex.com when it was possible), easy, very user-friendly, good for both artist and consumer, etc. I hope to see a lot more artists joining this platform, and to see more merch available.

15% is very reasonable IMO. Better than the Apple app store :P

15% is HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE ! lol i didn't know that

i'll never use this service nomatterwhatsoever

What if Aphex's next release is exclusively Bandcamp only

but i wont haha, there is noway in our reality this coming

There's no reason Richard couldn't release his other aliases (or even his Rephlex back catalogue) via Bandcamp... as for Aphex Twin, I'm sure it will come out on WARP.

Bandcamp is exactly what is needed.

It might be nice to have a minimal social addon with the following features:

-user (listener) reviews

-ability to follow users whose taste you share

Minimal is the key word

Here's mine, which is curiously sparse considering the years I've been using it: https://bandcamp.com/autsanaut

I suppose Bandcamp will only start to go bad when the server costs go stratospheric and they're forced to charge for bandwidth or sell out sponsership placements. Until then, viva la revolución!

You can do that already, right? You can follow both labels/artists and fans.

Ah, remembered something I don't like: the mp3s don't show the album artwork when loaded onto my mp3 player. Apart from that Ceephax album which has album art for all the tracks.

That's about it.

Then it's just my crappy mp3 player then. :mu-ziq:

Does it work on your player with albums that are not from Bandcamp? I have to "sync" stuff to mine using Windows Media Player to make it show up. Just a suggestion.

Love Bandcamp for being able to get our music in one place. MP3.COM pretty much blitzed all of the old tracks, I can't see this happening with Bandcamp.

We have 12+ albums up spread over 12 years at http://tefosav.bandcamp.com . I love the clean interface and focus on the tracks and artwork. Will be using them for the foreseeable future and picking up more stuff from them :).

Yes, just fine. And I also use Media Player to sync the albums over, yet no artwork. If I use mp3tag to apply the artwork, it'll appear but not when I download the files.

Strangely, it displays the album artwork when scrolling through the albums on my player, but when I play the songs, the artwork does not appear. Not sure why it is but it's nothing major.

Love Bandcamp, especially the way they sort your ID3 tags and artwork out so you don't have to. I wish I could follow other artists from my own artist account though, I don't want to set another account up.

Here's my account http://lofivemusic.bandcamp.com

Many don't know, but you can image map your headline picture. You can do it online very easy, just google online image mapping tool or something. You can get your other pages in the headline this way. I don't want to promote myself this way hehe but I used it quite efficiently I think:

i think bandcamp is great :]

can listen to the whole song is much better than other online stores, and i love the minimal design.

lets hope it stays this way and is lucrative for the artists, as well as us music lovers
