That show doesn't get talked about much. It was pretty trippy stuff. First half was a bit odd (not so great imo) second half was mind bending (and very much great!)

The CIRCLONT tracks and Earth Portal are my favorites at the moment, but I have to admit that XMAS_EVET10 and Minipops aren't there just because I'm too familiar with them. 

Syro and 4 bit the ones still surprise me at every listen.

Produk 29 I understand could sound weird, but man that super dissociating progression in the middle at that slow tempo is massive!!

180db on DEEJAY SELEK agree (but with more intro kicks to make it useful)

Xmas eve is probably my favorite aphex ever. It’s so mature and soulful it just makes me feel so good every time. I use it when I’m stressed tbh or pissed off. It brings me back.

I had lots of thoughts recently why I discarded aphex recently in favour for Autechre. It’s like aphex went more and more pop with syro and the following releases. The tuss and analord where more jazz like hard to digest while most of the stuff he did since syro was pretty pop and accessible compared to Autechre or his own earlier stuff. He lost me a bit there. It’s still great music but I am not nearly as exited as I am for new Autechre. Maybe also my recent LSD experiences might add to my general thirst for mind bending complex music. Syro is still nice but I think I am just not in sync currently

He did explicitly state in the Syro press interviews that it was his attempt at making a 'pop' album. I think Cheetah, Deejay Selek, Collapse and Black Box were all pretty poppy as well... but conversely CCAIp1, Fuji Tape and Field Day were all fairly user-unfriendly and sour. I suppose theres always been that element to Aphex's music and it's his love of a hooky melody thats quite an important part of why I listen to him.

Autechre really have headed off into the long grass, especially on their live stuff.. but I'd argue that SIGN and PLUS were fairly poppy by their standards too.

just spun this for the first time in a good few years.

while it ain't my personal fav afx record, fuck me dead if that production isn't the most immaculate shit you ever heard.

i don't think anything else in his discography comes close to how unbelievably polished it sounds. it's a proper satisfying album to listen to.

May give it an anniversary spin a bit later. See if a Aphex magic spell happens. So far it hasn't. I would actually like a psychologist to tell me why, because it's genuinely intrigues me. Specially as I like/love almost everything else he's ever done, before or since.

I love the album but I usually skip 180db if I'm doing a full listen. It's cool to hear in his live sets but doesn't really fit the album. Definitely should've replaced it with end E2 and/or MARCHROMT30A and put 180db on orphaned deejay selek.
