Apple - iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and Apple WATCH

Recommended Posts

It will be a conversation started for dummies at bars just like the iphone was back in 2007

Honestly, i like the idea of a smart watch for fitness and health related stuff but i could probably find that for less than 350$$

All of this shit (smart watch, google glass) brings too much attention to the person wearing it, i dont like that, ill rather go thru life unnoticed (or be noticed for something much cooler than a smart watch), and if you need a fancy future watch to make acquaintances there is something wrong on a deeper level.

anyone else increasingly irritated by the Apple presentation aesthetics?

Imo there was a lot of cringey moments yesterday... I guess it's mostly because the watch thing itself is so stunted...

srsly when they presented the sporty African-saving supermodel, wtf.

Yep, pretty much - http://www.amazon.com/Fitbit-Surge-Fitness-Superwatch-Black/dp/B00N2BWF6Q

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I watched (ha) the presentation yesterday at home sick, and I came away slightly underwhelmed by it overall, but I think the WATCH will sell well, despite being a 1st gen product - it's got that Apple cache that people love, and that's what Apple is excellent at marketing.

The Macbook was a surprise, and fuck me it's thin - my son as an Air, and I find that ridiculously thin as it is! The colour variants are nice as well - good to see Apple finally sees value in that for their computer line.

Would I buy one? perhaps - depends really on that screen, and while the resolution is nice, there are other 12" ultrabooks with higher resolution. Will all depend on how much better that panel is compared to the competition. The keyboard is pretty cool as well. Not sure if the pressure-sensitive trackpad is really useful, though.

As for the WATCH itself, I think the whole fitness model/Africa thing was tacky and really shouldn't have been included.

Do I want a WATCH? Yeah, I'm leaning closer to it - I want to see one in person and try it on, and part of it will depend on how much of a premium they charge for the better bands (the rubber is not my style and is fine for sport, but not everyday wearing with business clothes, IMO).

The one thing that excited me the most out of the whole thing was the medical research portion - now THAT I think is an innovative and brilliant solution to accelerating clinical research into disease. Props for Apple making it open source as well, so I suppose we'll see HealthKit Research on Android as well?

Very disappointed no 4th gen Apple TV - I suspect as rumours persist Apple is having trouble courting the content providers for the access they want. HBO Now is a step in the right direction, but 15USD per month is a bit much. I think half that is reasonable.

Smart watches are relatively cheap, as watches go, but I wonder if they are expecting people to upgrade every single year. Looks like I'm the WATMMer who kind of likes these things, even if I'm not crazy about this particular watch.

Well, phones are even more expensive, but people tend (Apple folks especially) to upgrade every year or so...

this, i judge people with watches, its old appendix technology, you have other intentions when you wear a watch.

it's obvious they were thinking that this was a way to get everyone to spend at least 90 more bucks, then again when they lose the dongle or want an extra one. same thing with the "lightning" adapter, no?

Well the port is USB-C, which is apparently the new industry standard and not a Apple proprietary connector, but having just one? Fucking LOL Apple. Magnificent.

I swear on my life, they manufacture shit cables on purpose too. The amount of money they make on replacement iPhone cables (which are horrible!) is astronomical. That is def by design.
In the 4th quarter of 2014 alone, they sold 75 million iPhones. If only half of those people buy 1 new cable, they make $712,500,000 on cables.
That is almost 1 billion dollars from 1/2 of a single product customer base from 4 months of 1 year.
I wonder why they have so much money. The old apple didn’t do that…

My wife has a MBA. I don't think she's ever used a port on it, other than for charging. Everything else she does is covered by wifi and Bluetooth, including printing and using a mouse.

The expensive dongle is ridiculous but if you think you need it you probably aren't the demographic apple is aiming for. When they take the ports off the MacBook Pro, then we're in trouble.

Edit: the max 8 GB of RAM and the Core M should honestly steer everyone away except for the folk who just need a word processing / Facebook machine. And let's be honest, most people just need a word processing / Facebook machine.

My only problem with apple doing this (assuming they don't EOL the MBP and MBA) is that it's more expensive than the Air. It should be cheaper, like the old plastic MacBooks. It should slot between an iPad and the other notebooks, because it's basically an iPad that has a keyboard and runs os x.

i agree with almost all of this except, i think almost everyone would need to at least plug a usb stick into their computer at some point

edit: is there even a headphone port on it?
