I reckon afx + joyrex have the same piece of GEAR and matey is sending sysex attachments to JR which if you load into the GEAR you can scroll patch to patch and reveal a hidden message.

Otherwise he is uploading videos or audio to a central account which contain the messages in a spectrogram using metasynth or etc.

i'll be so disappointed if this actually turns out to be a of gear sale or auction with prices going upwards of $1000

Well, this thread is only 23 pages. We can rule out anything to do with gear, new music (although eznzea is most desired) & several other guesses (aphex cattleprod). Joyrex said someone came pretty damn close to nailing it. If I were so inclined, I'd pick several of the most logical guesses & narrow it down to a list & set up a poll. Maybe I'll peruse this full thread again.

edit: I'm inclined to agree with klore. especially with the whole site bandwidth thing mentioned before.
