I was assuming he meant magnetic pickups, cause he said that he wound his own, which would have been fiddly. It's fine copper wire wound around a magnet that creates a magnetic field which picks up the vibrations of the piano strings.

Is what you call the Rome track what I call the Sonar 2011 track? that's the recording I've listened to most

It's a Squarepusher track so I guess the track is still okay.
