This stunning image of the dwarf planet was captured from New Horizons at about 4 p.m. EDT on July 13, about 16 hours before the moment of closest approach. The spacecraft was 476,000 miles (766,000 kilometers) from the surface.

europa's surface resembles frozen ice bergs in a sea, indicating surface ice sometimes melts, supposedly. it does look like that, amazing picture though, whatever caused it to be that way

According to current theories, the formation of Jupiter-mass planets plays an important role in shaping the architecture of planetary systems. lol, definitely. Had to look it up on the NASA website to see if it was authentic. Same with the green outline on this photo, which I assume serves some purpose

the small shadow is presumably because the sun is directly behind the probe. but yeah, it does make it look fake (looks like a photoshop drop-shadow effect). ha. the green could be from the moon's atmosphere (it has a very small one)?
