It's funny how i read a review a few days back where some no nothing was stating that BoC and so forth were innovating, whilst syro wasn't and that aphex really was on an innovating hiatus. To me this is the biggest lie that can only be perpetrating by those without the mental scope and historical context to understand that all the shit that they think is innovative and direction pushing can only do so on the terms of their limited understanding of music history.

to reiterate and paraphrase a post of mine from over a decade ago, it's all been done before, and if something is nice that's all that matters. There is no fashion as propositioned by those of note and mention. They are deluded, shadow chasing realitiphobes searching for something to worship as the latest ubermensch ..... gleh.

sorry, but how is this relevant to this thread? we aren't talking about syro, or boc. and nobody questionned, yet, the innovativness of Computer controlled acoustic.

but this is definitely not innovative one bit. it really sounds like drukqs and could have well be done in that era. maybe CCAI2 was done years ago?

and I would agree that TH from BOC isnt innnovative at all, and syro isnt innovative either imo.

This is good, but not a masterpiece like we know James can do.

the first time I did listen to the analords I had exactly this impression but if I see this EP in context to a single analord it pretty much has the same quality if not better

not really, because I like the acid aphex, and theres nothing acid in CCAI2.

the fact that you don't get my post is why i can't get to most people on this board about most things on board, you are minus. To put it simply I was lamenting a direction of thought because it is ill conceived. All the best though, you seem like a nice kid, passionate and intrested, so i'm not against your existance, just your blarstance.

It's a bit fast also to say that as early as on the day you first heard it... Let it grow on you, murphy! :)

exactly ! "oh my god let's listen to the leak and be the first to bash this Ep"

"piano un10 it happened"

Wow...

I expected some emotion in here but this one hits damn deep.

Probably too soon to say but right now I think it stands up to his very best prep. piano pieces. Took my breath away when I first heard it. And so unexpected in the context of the rest of the album.

Right so we've reached the point on this thread when people who have heard it start spewing negative stuff. And it is at this point I strap on my parachute and fucking bail, because it just spoils the vibe. I know there are positive posts but I don't wish to read any more instant bad opinions.

yes definitely, I never understood the innovation arguments to rate if a album is good or not.

All I care is if its good or not. but its much more interesting to see whether a artist is showing progress and innovation within his own work. there I can see a lot of value.

Something is definitely missing.

What's usually lacking is the time you need to spend to get to know the music. I bet this EP will sound better and better (as usual)

Then again it might not.

very possible. and Ive never said I dont like it, its good. but not as good as anything from 94 to 2005 and for that, its disappointing.

I really feel like he is playing with us and that he will release something totally amazing, but this is not it. A masterpiece is evident for me even on first listen and Im not blown away right now.

It took my breath away as well.

He's got a way with communicating enormous emotion in such short durations.

First impressions on the EP: it's good. It has catchy beats, it has pretty piano stuff, it is interesting, it is weird. Good enough for me to buy it. :music:

Wow, that's impressive... Please inform us whenever you know a new masterpiece has been released, thanks. :)

As with every other AFX release it makes a lot of sense to judge how good it is after a day or so, so that's what I'll do. Because I like sense.

you guys suck new aphex is gold. I'm glad to hear some genuinely disturbing/weird melodies from him again and of course, some good original percussion. this should have been the comeback album, not syro!

Damn those fanboy are so sensitive. if you think the CCAI2 is perfect, I'm very happy for you. but its not for me.

Im on my fifth listen. Some songs are great, other are quite boring. I really like it though, ive been enjoying it all morning and its lovely. just not the aphex im waiting for

He probably already did hehe.

diskrept4 sounds like an soundtrack from a 60´s movie with car chases also i get a lot of jazz vibes from that ep , anyone else ?

I've just realized that these kinds of tracks are what that Logos Foundation guy Godrich... referred to as "The Best Kind of Pop"

:rhubear1:

More gushing:

For how strange this release is and I guess "dark" a lot of it is, it puts me in a fantastic mood. The first track deserves Chris Cunningham imagery attached. Its dark, eerie and just fun with the straight ahead breakbeats running through it. I could see Chris having a heyday with it.
