I tell her it doesn't matter. the type of person that seeks that kind of power is going to be nuts no matter the gender

FF produced several anthems for my teen years, all of which were driven by his energetic drumming. RIP.

Yeah, not a massive Foo fan, though I don’t hate them like some people, and I don’t listen to ‘rock’ radio where they might get overplayed and tiresome. Bit gutted and mystified to hear this.

First five Foos albums are all top notch in my book.  Couldn't ask for a better pop rock album than Colour and the Shape (though that one's all Grohl for drums).  The pressure on any drummer backing him is immense.  Hawkins was as solid as they come, no doubt.  Seemed like a super nice dude too.

Damn.  That one's quite unexpected.  Wonder what happened.

What's Bogata famous for?

Bogotá is Colombia’s sprawling, high-altitude capital. La Candelaria, its cobblestoned center, features colonial-era landmarks like the neoclassical performance hall Teatro Colón and the 17th-century Iglesia de San Francisco. It's also home to popular museums including the Museo Botero, showcasing Fernando Botero's art, and the Museo del Oro, displaying pre-Columbian gold pieces.

Are you implying he died by swallowing pre-Columbia gold pieces?  Respect, if so.

first 3, I'd say. I kind of tuned out after that. Colour & Shape is their defining album imo.

Colour and Shape is without a doubt their best work, but give One By One another shot.  So many excellent rock out moments on there.  I think Grohl was really inspired by his time with QotSA on that one.

*first 4 FF albums are gold.  In Your Honour was a'ight.  Rest has been mixed for me, but good songs on all, no doubt.

ah shit. fuckin drugs. was never a massive FF fan, but respected them nonetheless. seems they are like one of the last hold outs from the '90s major label rock scene days, and I grew up on all that stuff. Taylor always came across in interviews as the nice guy sort that wouldn't end up OD'ing, but what do I know. poor Dave Grohl. Kurt and now Taylor. he always seemed to be next to Dave in most interviews I've watched of them, and is rare to see a drummer always in the spotlight like that.

Seems as though a number of different drugs were found in his system

many of them prescription medications but also opiates and stuff. a lot of that stuff doesn't mix well or becomes something that requires lot's of management. people make mistakes and accidental OD or have complications like sudden heart failure etc.

a bummer any way ya cut it.  accidental OD is huge these days w/fentanyl in so many drugs.

  Quote

Philip Jeck (1952-2022)

Jon and Mike are deeply saddened to tell you that Philip Jeck died peacefully on Friday after a short illness. A remarkable man and a wonderful artist, he has been one of the kingpins of our work for 30 years. But with Philip it was never just the work, more the love, the spirit and the dedication. He touched so many with his wit, his zest for life and his wisdom. We will miss him terribly and our love goes out to Mary and Louis.
