I quite enjoy Just Like Stor Eiglass. maybe Tommeh should go for the mascara/smudged lipstick/spiderweb hair look.

yeah that one grew on me, even that techno melody

did my taxes, getting return, celebrated by ordering this, actress, autechre, bochum welt and shellac cds

Just started listening to the album. First of all, is it me or was the sound quality of the YouTube version of Stor Eiglass pretty shitty compared to that one ?

(I'm really falling in love with that track, again !)

maybe you guys can help me understand something. This new Squarepusher album was all made 'Live' right? or that's what TOm's claim is? Why is that other electronic musicians who have done improv or live albums like for example BeardyMan, Exile or Jamie Lidell are absolutely 100% transparent about their working improvisational process (where you can see and hear them build up songs from absolutely nothing) but Squarepusher is expecting people to believe a heavily EDM laced production album was literally made in real time while showing us absolutely no proof at all?

I say show us the rig Tom, film a video of you 'putting together' a demo of a song that sounds like the album. Otherwise I'm going to call bullshit

if he did make it all live bravo to him, but I'm having an extremely difficult time believing it right now.

it's not made in realtime, it's programmed but not multitracked or edited in a DAW, which is why he can just start the tracks off live and mute/change stuff up on the fly.

He said the tracks were recorded in one take, not "live" - I'm sure he recorded several variations of each, and picked the ones he liked best for the final tracks on the album.

huh ok, so its like how a great deal of electronic musicians already make music. I was confused because he talked about the process at great lengths as if it was a new way to produce, perhaps a new way to produce for him then.

I'm trying to get over my complete disapproval of anything remotely resembling The Cure and just enjoy this. I'm really goddamn trying.

kontenjaz

excellent zappafication until it steps in a steaming pile of brostep before successfully rezappafying; not sure if i follow the kontenjazual continuity

Baltang Echidna's Arf is doing it right though

I actually really, really like this album.

ditto !! it's really, really good.

feeling a little relieved i forked out to see him live next month after all^-^

even rayc fire 2 which sounded a bit meandering as standalone track has its own place nicely on the album. the jazzy weirdness of rayc fire 2 and kontenjaz (contemp' jazz?) really stands out in the context of rest of the album.

i like it

exjag nives is prob my favorite at the moment

feel like i'd need a lot more listens to really get an idea of the album though

noticed there's option to listen to tracks individually and make a little playlist. gonna see how reverse/vinyl order sounds.

i hope this has a nice flow cos i imagine this will be my preferred listening method.. and to be honest, i quite like the flow i've been listening to :) :( :) :( :>:|

oh shit. the album tracklist in reverse (the vinyl version) is fucking rad.

the tracklist has a pretty strong symmetry thing going on so it's hardly disruptive to the overall album flow, it follows the same beats?

tracks 2 and 7 are both dark drum n bass tunes and deviate away from the brostep jazz tecnho stuff.

borderline the same album??

i wonder if lack of ambient/interludes (as mentioned from the live show descriptions) has anything to do with the parallel like nature of the album??

anyhow, ive been a pretty happy squarepusher fan boy enjoying ufab and d'demonstrator and just a souvenir and whatnot but hot damn this is easily becoming a new favourite record of his.

Yeah, I think these are good times for squarepusher, paving an era for a new bunch of fucking mental tunes
