That guy who ran Blackwater, Erik Prince, is involved the sale and marketing of a new phone company, Unplugged. Plenty of reasons to dislike that Prince fellow, but I gotta admit, the phone sounds pretty good. He talks about it at the very end of this interview.

He mentions some stuff I was not aware of (well I knew it was happening but did not know the precise way that it was happening). He says basically that everyone who has a phone with either Apple or Google-associated operating system, that every single user of these has a 32 digit alphanumerical code (an advertising id) that is attached to their identity, and this is what is used at the base level to surveil, collect, and export your data. Says that with google and apple, every night at around 3AM the data is exported to 'home base', and that this happens every 24 hours. He does not go into detail on what all of the 'data' is, but he says that the export on a daily basis is 50 megabytes of data, so probably lots of granular level detail.

His phone, he says, does not have this advertising ID and also has lots of other boosted encryption that google and apple lack. It is currently only available in US and Canada, but he says in interview it is hitting Europe by end of this summer. I honestly would get one myself but they are pretty pricey, close to $1000, and I also do not know which cellular services are available to get with it, although that is probably easy enough to find out.
