Da unofficial official thread for Glasto 2015!

First off, here's the line up with times. It's not too fantastic, definitely not as good as last year but it should be pretty fun regardless.

Are any of you going? I'm gonna be flipping burgers for 6 hours a day but I'll have most of the evenings free. Looking at the line up now, I want to see:

Deadmau5

Hot Chip

Flying Lotus

Grandmaster Flash

808 State

And then there's pretty much 24hr raves going on up near Shangri La.

Also, Stephen Hawking's doing a talk. I don't think he's signing autographs tho.

aka corporate bs, wonder which of the main global alcohol suppliers are in on the sponsorship act this time........

its been a sad decline since they closed the traveler's site area - the soul of Glastonbury died a long time ago

It's not that corporate, and I've been to enough festivals with shit security then had stuff stolen to welcome the wall.

The Who clashing with Chemical Brothers is heartbreaking, hoping it will be a fun time all round though. And despite praising the wall, err any chance you could smuggle in a friend in that burger van?

Yeah, clashes are a pain. You can't even really leave halfway through a show if you want to see someone else cos there's so many people packed into a fairly small space. I think your best bet is The Who, since they'll die first.

I actually got in last year on a dodgy ticket, supplied by someone called 'Clifford the gas man'. So, uh, your friend could try to track him down. Just don't tell Eavis.

Compared to previous decades, it very much is. I'm not some dinosaur saying dont go & have fun; if u wanna go n get wrecked, eat good food, swing yer pants etc, crack on, especially if u've scored some freebies.

But if you think Glastonbury is anything like it used to be, its most clearly not. Just compare previous line-ups over time, the shunning of the traveler community & the increasing contribution of corporate "sponsors" = damp squib. There are running costs & there are running costs,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

And that was the whole point about Glastonbury, it wasnt supposed to be like other festivals. Guess things have evolved to the point of booking Kanye too, the eye of narcissist's storm.

Anyway, who is playing that's any good? Furry Animals and The Who are a must obviously, The Fall if Mark E Smith turns up, the rest are a mystery.

Mmmm Glastonbury.....always been sceptical....though I bet if I had the chance to go it would be great. Just something about the new set-up and the whole Planet Eavis thing, mildly irritates me. Probably 'cause they always shunned metal bands and all the hippy flag waving bullshit. I'm not really a fan of cod-shit talking, dread-locked hippies talking about moons and force-fields from other dimensions.

808 State playing? That would be cool.

Cant stand The Who (and I love that era). I'd wack some mandy down my neck and dance my tits of to The Chem's. Happy daze.

Anyone called Wumbo Man will fit right in lol. Hope you have a great time mate

This year will be my 9th or 10th Glastonbury. DJ/electronic-wise I've ear-marked the following:

DJ Pierre

Phuture

Prosumer

Adam Beyer

Jerome Hill

D.A.V.E The Drummer

The Bug

The Chemical Brothers

Four Tet

Caribou

Flying Lotus

Jon Hopkins

Siriusmo / Modeselektor

Tricky

Lamb

Way Out West
Cassetteboy & DJ Rubbish

Neil Barnes of Leftfield

David Squillace
Matt Black
Mixmaster Morris

Plaid

Neil Landstrumm
Placid

Ewan Pearson

DJ Hype

Roni Size

Michael Mayer

Maceo Plex

That's in addition to an equivalent number of bands and such. Clearly, I won't get to see even half of the acts I'm interested in but as usual there's no shortage of stuff to keep me entertained. :)

Yeah, that's the nice thing about Glasto. There's almost always something going on that you'll like. You just have to find it.

This will be my 5th or 6th one. My family are from the area, so I've been going most years since I was 8 :D

My few friends who have been, say the music isn't important anyway. You can still have the best time without seeing a single band play.

My experience of Reading Festival is making a list of 30 bands you want to see over the weekend is a waste of time, unless you're stone cold sober and gonna march about with a clipboard, check list and an anorak on. Which sounds as much fun as watching paint dry.

I've been to Reading a couple of times and it's tiny by comparison in terms of the number of stages. Agreed that having a clipboard and checklist at a festival is a bit dry and dull but Glastonbury is so huge that being organised can help get the most out of it. I've seen people at Glasto with laminated and colour-coded print-outs of the Clashfinder which is probably taking things bit far! :) Alternatively, someone can go with no intentions whatsoever and still have an amazing time.

Bit disappointed by the complete lack of any braindance this year. Had my fingers-crossed for Squarepusher as his set in 2007 was mint.

Arcadia line-up is slaying it, especially Friday and Saturday.

Adam Beyer, Pan-pot and Bookashade for the techno on Friday with the Swamp 81 filthy bass crew, then Saturday you get The Bug, Congo-Natty and SPOR.

Actually, even Sunday is good fun with Altern-8. Special guest will probably be fatboy slim again tho.

The problem with Arcadia is the speakers facing the wrong way so if you don't battle down the front hearing anything can be a struggle. Going with one mate this year, dunno whether to cling to him or get lost in the throng, which can be awkward for an idmz warrior.

  • 2 weeks later...

Rained earlier, but the sun is out in Somerset right now! I'll be on site in a few hours, weather should be nice for the rest week. Although there is a chance that we'll get fucked by hurricane Bill or something so bring an industrial strength poncho if you're coming.

I wouldn't worry - I've heard Hurricane Bill is a very gentle and considerate lover.

Hurricane Bill? I'm prepared for all eventualities but I'd really like sun, I'll be happy to cook like a crisp, I just can't be dealing with a wet bed this year.

Beerwolf wishes you all the best, have a great weekend

I'm not really a fan of all the hippy bollocks but I'm sure I could just take it with a pinch of salt and have a good time! The whole thing does seem overwhelming to me. It seems almost too big to wrap ones head around.....

Keep us updated Wumbo Man, post your adventures here...

I don't think festivals are for you.

Does MDMA go out of date? Was having a clear out yesterday and found a load, god knows when it was put there.
