beerwolf
Nothing like nights under canvas. Love it. Babbling brooks, green acres of clean grass, dawn chorus, quiet mummurs and hushed stories over the crackle of campfire. Nothing like nights under canvas at Glastonbury. A river of shit, acres of unclean grass, a dawn chorus of a 100,000 hippies banging on a bongo drums and shouting complete codshit about moon fairies. delet...
yeah, it's not like i've not camped at a festyville before. First one when i was either 16 or 17, a fenced off biker bash, they handled security and it was on the property owned by their clubhouse so there were no cops and i had no trouble buying booze (with the tiny budget i had, sigh), and plenty of people willing to share mull. Was teenage paradise, i went with my brother three years my junior and he followed suit. They had some big older bands of their day, so it wasn't some tiny thing and there was plenty going on. An highlight was seeing some drunk erk try to climb onto the stage whilst the divinyls were playing (come on guys, i didn't grow up in a city, there wasn't much choice of entertainment in north queensland), poor guy was ripped back down again and got quite a flogging. Everyone was really nice to us, probably cause we were little rebel (not the MC) kids or something. Nowadays though, i dunno, maybe if it was a festival out in the sticks put on by some techno hippies i'd be into it. But a city of tents with lining up for a crap or a piss after trudging through the mud for minutes, nar fanks. oh yeah, and drum circles, whoever invented and popularized those needs to be fired out of a cannon into the sun, we can use his disciples as furnace fuel to charge the battery bank for the massive railgun that we'll use to send the maniac there. delet...
good god, you could put a third eye out with those things. I remember going to an african music festival in canberra when i was 18 and they had this big shed with african drums set up being played in a big jam by african people that knew what they were doing and they let anyone come up and join in. I thought it was kind of cool, probably cause they were really good at these drums, paradiddle paradise or whatever, there was a groove to it. I think i may have even bought my djembe there at that fair. Little did i know at the time that that this little kernal and others like it would have spread in to an infestation of the unmusical. You know, i saw a documentary on stone henge the other month and there were crusty uselessoids drum circling there !! The poor earth spirits. And then down on the main beach at byron bay, they're everywhere. Look at me, i've got a drum, lets have sex ribbon twirling babe. The djembe i bought never met a drum circle, because i purchased it with a musical purpose in mind, it was going to help me learn paradiddles that my drum playing brother had shown me. It's also quite an interesting instrument, you can do all sorts of things by increasing or reducing the tension of the skin. I hardly touched it though, and in the end someone dropped it, "i'm sorry man", and that was the end of that. Still do paradiddles on my legs, still not that withit with them nwae, what was this thread about, oh yeah glasto, pics or gtfo guys that went plz. The Wumbo Man
Nah, just finishing off my 8 hour shift in the burger van. We had our first rain earlier, so the ground is a bit chewed up. Wellies are advisable. I clock off at 10, so I'm gonna pop up to West Holts and watch Hot Chip for a bit. After that I'll saunter on up to Arcadia, and dance underneath a giant fire breathing metal spider. caze
don't worry about the mud, after a while you get used to it, once it starts it's usually there for the entire weekend, even if the sun comes out (is beautiful in london now, so hopefully you'll be alright). haven't been to glasto in years now, used to go every year since I was 15, for about a decade or so. lineups have gotten progressively worse, and the crowd progressively poncier, was always still plenty of great shit to do though. spent the last few years mostly wandering around the cabaret fields and shangri la and the like. beerwolf
Day 2 dawns Looking forward to watching Sleaford Mods at 3pm (the live feed is pretty fucking awesome you just click to which stage you wanna watch), there's Suede, Spirtualized, Young Fathers, The Waterboys, Kate Tempest. Main stage line-up is dreadful though(imo). I think tmrw has much better music. Also not much electronic music on the live feed either.... Hopefully our man in Pilton, The Wumbo Man will give us regular reports of his adventures. The Wumbo Man
I caught the start of The Waterboys, that was probably a cracking show throughout. beerwolf
Not really a fan of either m8, I'd say go with the flow. I'd probably catch Suede if I had to choose between headline acts on the stages today (Dogman Star is one of my favorite albums). But if you're into more dancey type stuff I'd give them a miss. Have a great day (even if you are in the burger van) Sleaford Mods were spot on Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/87766-glastonbury-2015/page/2/#findComment-2339662 Share on other sites
