lots of heaphone makers have shitty cables, so do phone chargers and any small consumer electronic item bar mouse and keyboards or normal usb cables. The cable to charge my ipad is like beyond delicate, i'm surprised it's lasted this long and it's only been a few months. It's called planned obsolescence, or designing things so that they break. It's not even about saving 5 cents on materials, it's pretty depressing really that in 2015 we still have to be fucked over by shit like this.

Just popped in to say what the fuck are you doing to your cables? I've had the same iPhone 5 charger for 2 years, and it's been to Europe, Japan, and Southeast Asia with me.

I broke one pair of Sony in-ear buds, the cable was super super thin though. Otherwise prior to that I had a pair of AKG 240s that lasted 7 years before the foam molding over the ear cup wore out.

Now I can't even listen to music on the go cause after my phone got put through the wash, the battery swelled up slightly, blocking the jack.

Oh and beats were shit before apple bought them, and they're shit now.

Also I bet Dre rubs one out over justin on the daily.

this made me lol because i had a friend go into a complete apple rage the other day over cables for his apple devices. 3 dead charger cables for his macbook in a matter of weeks, and he can't seem to get chargers to work for very long with is iphone 6 either. already went through several of those. when i showed up at his house was throwing them out the door into his yard with a look on his face like he'd just murdered somebody.

granted it's obvious he is not being gentle with his devices and that's likely the bigger issue.

My iphone 5 cable lasted about a year before the insulation started fraying at the phone plug end, it still works but I had to put a bit of heatshrink tube on it so it wouldn't get any worse.

chengod, i haven't destroyed my ipad charger cable, it just feels flimsy, so i'm super delicate with it. Flimsy as in if it ever gets turned on itself it will easily kink because it's so thin and that will be it's end, and flimsy because the end attachments don't feel secure and so could easily tear off. I'm not a nutbag, i've used a lot of cabled devices in my life. But here if feels like they've used the least amount of material they could get away with sending current through, or holding solder points on. Maybe in north america they give you better cables, i wouldn't be surprised, we usually have the privilege of paying top dollar for the same or substandard products (you notice this when you get clothes from europe (or even when my sister has given me polo's of the same brand that i buy here, that she picked up in the US, the fabric holds it's colour for longer and is softer and yet harder wearing), they are made so much better (from the stitching to the fabric used), even though they ironically probably all come from the same factory complex in china).

Anyone I see walking around in a pair of these I just laugh at. Not if they are kids or teens ('cause we are all guilty of being a bit twatish back then) but blokes in their late twenties + The lime green one's especially. I mean how much do you need to advertise what a complete cunt you actually are??? Hahah cracks me up every single time lol.

Agreed!

So if metal parts are merely intended for fashion, then you might as well be a human lightning rod if you wear them during a thunderstorm.

I'm overdue for a new pair of Sennheisers myself.

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

Sennheisers are dead to me; the plugs on their canalphones are such low quality that they malfunction after 6 months of regular, non-violent use. I literally found a pair of Audio Technica canalphones on the side of the road a year ago and they haven't caused me any problems, even with a cable that is replaceable, thus consisting of two plugs that could fail. The only thing that went slightly wrong with them was one of the chambers popping out but that was only because I was too aggressive when replacing the tips—I fixed it with super glue.

yeah, sennheisers are not what they used to be, they kind of started cheaping out like ten years ago or more. I still bought a pair for my last monitoring headphones, cause i was too lazy to look around too much, heh. /people look at me now like they would a beats headphone user. "that foking guy".

haha, awesome. sounds like something a harsh noise musician would use for monitoring. Were they pretty beat up?

that was my reaction watching Jurassic World, the opening scene the older brother is wearing beats. Its also my reaction when watching any Nicki Minaj or other hip hop video that has the 'pill' bluetooth beats speaker in it, fucking hilarious

Actually they looked like they'd just been dropped. There was nobody around so I just grabbed them thinking they'd been deliberately discaded due to being broken but nope, perfect.
