I never used a site for downloads before that had flacs go out of stock. I had to email them to add more to my account, because 'they run out over time'. :cerious:

I live like round the corner from their offices, I can drop a "Boomkat Pls" note off every hour the site disappears again

it's not that bad looking, I like it better than the old layout at least.

Stoked to watch OA II. The movement thing never bothered me, anyone familiar with Druidic studies will recognize the importance of movement to get to higher planes.

Aye it's a real nice design - The space of the preview player is a little dominating though, you've got to do a page worth of scrolling before you hit the description of the thing. Apart from that, grand (though why they stopped the old site for a week just redesigning the thing was a very odd practice !)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Aye Aye, Boomkat usually has better prices than Bleep, and dispatches much faster, unless it's an in-house Warp release, which they seem to have increased shipping speeds to US in the past year. Support all indie stores IMO, or we'll end up a slave to Amazon and Jeff Bezos for physical releases.

Absolutely. Completely agree with this. But that new Boomkat website?! Oh My! I feel like I need a New Alternative to the Indie / Alternative.

i like it, but i'm going to miss the little paper aeroplane that would fly to the top left corner when you clicked to hear samples of music.

It looks good on my phone, the old site was annoying to navigate via mobile. Not tried it on laptop yet.

I think this is the entire point here. It's all about the mobile platform, which is an irresistible force I guess.

the new site feels a bit more democratic/level playing field than the last site. Something about the last site felt extremely hype machine churn, but the most off putting is when Boomkat would always feature at the top and hype up the most the stuff off their own label like Andy Stott and Demdike Stare (which they still don't really fully disclose Modern Love is ran by Boomkat, its not as transparent as it should be)

THEY GOT RID OF THAT?!

:catrage:

Gotta say as much as I despise Boomkat, I'm a big Modern Love fan. Their whole approach with the multi disc reissues of experimental techno stuff in mostly black and white packages is just excellent, especially with the reasonable pricing after the hype has long since died down. I waited to check out the Andy Stott records, the three Demdike Stare records and the Vatican Shadow album until they got them in those cool reissues, and I find I enjoy it even more this way.

So, now that I've checked out the new design I'm quite into it to be honest. They even had a few things that were on my wantlist in stock (including that new Haswell CD!) so I just made my very first order there. Let's see how this goes :)
