I like it.

The only thing I hope they add is the ability to filter genres.

or maybe even change to some more specific genres. they have really broad categories like 'modernclassical/drone/experimental' <--- seriously?

And they get right up my nose, take for example this utter pretentious horseshit

PAN grip one of Europe's finest freaks - Dennis Tyfus ov Ultra Eczema infamy - for a head-wobbling collage of tapes loops and concrète clangour contrasted with a side of extended vocal technique and electronics.

'Knerpen! (Bevel)' translates reflexive, haptic actions into freeform sequences of "scrunched" loops and location recordings on the A-side, whilst juxtaposing opera singer and actress Emilie Fleamountains with warbling tape improvisation on the other side.

Jarring perfectly with the label's recent run of idiosyncratic zingers from Errorsmith & Mark Fell, Helm, Lifted, and M.E.S.H., Tyfus spools away on his own trajectory into a ferric miasma of alien, avant sound.

The first side works in a lo-fi textural tradition running from M.B. to Wolf Eyes via much more zonked outliers - many of whom have released on Tyfus' Antwerp-based stable of instability, Ultra Eczema - threading a series of piercing, shocking and unhinged improvisations across your mucky tape head.

In stark relief, the B-side opens out with Emilie Fleamountains' multitracked, operatic vox blossoming strange harmonics skewed by unpredictable, extreme pitch shifts for the first half, before invoking a schizoid hall-of-mirrors sound twisting and scrunching his tapes into disorienting möbius loops and backwoods wail.

Eh? Do me a fucking favour lol. Do you think I'll read that and bleet like a sheep and just hand over my cash?

The only reason for me to buy from boomkat is to buy certain editions of vinyl so you can sell it on to make profit.

I hate them with such a passion

I shall quote an exerpt taken from an interview with Richard James (Another Man 2010)

What do you listen to in the morning? Sometimes the radio, because usually its rubbish and it makes me want to do something good.

Same as why I sometimes tune into pop radio for an hour for a laugh, and sometimes why I stick on music video channel while eating a cheese sandwich, and why I put on X Factor for half an hour. I like to know my foundation is solid and I like to know the opposition still remains joke (though its possible I might get the odd pop gem I like).

I'll carry on reading, I'll carry on hating and I wll carry on laughing. All in equal measure.

Don't like the situation? Suck the savage wolfs balls lol.

I am so tempted to go into a wolfman rant, but I gotta get up at 4am.

(I bet the blokes at boomkat will be going to bed at that time with a glass goblet of fine wine in one hand and some fine whore in the other, in a four poster bed, with peasents cooking a 6 bird roast in the dungeon, and as I toil away doing my fair duty to Queen and Country they splay so many fair ladies. All the while my balls sweat like a furnace in Papa New Guinea)

Well the site LOOKS ok but it's absolutely useless when it comes to functionality and browsing, why are the format filters _completely_ gone? I want to check only MP3, only CD, etc

yeah only cd, vinyl etc NEEDS to be a feature

RE: The 'reviews' - It's a shop, it's there to sell things, it's not a music review site, it's a shop, it's to make money and sell the product. Oh and it's a shop. And not a music review site.

Hope that clears things up!

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Nah, sure there's a better place for over-the-pond purchasing, the shipping would be a right pain in the arse money wise. It's expensive enough here in the UK!

Outside the UK in europe? YES. In the US? no clue. It's cheaper and faster shipping than bleep even though I love bleep i had to switch. I\ve done all orders unregstered which is usually 10 with shipping for a cd and they all arrive, double the speed of bleep

Man slags off Boomkat yet admits he profiteers from vinyl.

It's all good fun. The slagging off isn't real ultra serious, I think perhaps cold words appearing on a screen don't translate that well. When I post shit like that I am laughing to myself. A bit.

I've always liked their writing for its ridiculousness and I quite like the new site, but I agree that it feels like they are trying to sell you specific things and it can be a pain to browse. The Modern Love stuff annoys me a bit too. (Same with FACT mag and Blackest Ever Black)

For some reason I always find Norman Records to be much more open and genuine and democratic with their website and I like that they ask you to write reviews for records you've bought. They are my go to shop (outside my local record store) if there's a choice.

basically, unless you wanna get raped by Blerp, Norman and Boomkat are the best bets for US customers, they are both pretty fast in terms of shipping. plus they get all of the limited runs, and don't jack up the prices like Blerp. nobody's perfect. Juno is ok too sometimes.

Positive Metal Attitude

While we're at Boomkat bias, check Annex Agency also out of Manchester

Basically all boomkat headliners. Not that it looks like they make a mad profit though.

They're waiting for the hype to build up for that rumored feature.
