I'd agree, and I'd pay for it. From Ae's perspective though, they're blasting this insanely laboured-over sound art into a room... you have to imagine that they're going for the best possible results -- working with the physical dimensions of the room, volume, mix, etc. that's a whole art in itself, it's nice to think that there's the possibility of the music sounding augmented, enhanced, more 'powerful' in an open air scenario. it's not strictly meant to be heard in a sterile vacuum.

I doubt that they're aware of the exact acoustics of each venue where they play. Don't the venues have audio engineers who set up the acoustics before the show begins? I don't think I've heard of a musician who engineers their own shows at the venue.

I agree.

Moreover, it is technically impossible to mix your music for the entire room if the acoustics sucks as the frequency response and reverberation times changes drastically every few centimetres. It is why professional studios invest such a huge money into acoustics so that their rooms provide the most similar experience no matter where you stand in it. No club I have been to had such acoustic treatment (most of them have none at all).

I followed the instructions from Autechre. When nothing happened I thought it could be that your suggestion would get my invite out but it apparently didn't work for me.

lol... I didn't quite get that into it. But no matter what order you put them in they all seem to go together due to the pattern... pretty cool. Also, I notice Utrecht is made up more more small triangles whereas the others are less, larger chucks. I wonder if that is any reference to the content of it's just TDR.
