i'm just wondering if the art is really tdr. as i've still not seen them mention it anywhere. i scooped a cd.

It credits them on the back of the cd case, right at the bottom

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Plus its stated on the bandcamp page as well as on the touched music website, and on the facebook page.

Not sure if they could mention it more often tbh.

Ive sent an email to macmillan to report back about the compilation. Stay tuned!

The behavior of some of the people here make me realize why I don't want to hang out at these type of forums anymore. Disgrace.

people have a right to be sceptical. The post was made by an official of the charity (even if it was a repost from someone else, the posting of it is an endorsement). It did annoy people because it implied things that were inaccurate, it hasn't been retracted and there is no apology, both things that would occur only after people point out that there was a problem, by the way, if noone said anything at all, perhaps they would take even more chances in their claims next time.

Just because it's a charity it doesn't get a free pass, actually as a charity it needs even harder scrutiny, given the shenanigans that have been going on with charities these past few years. So whilst you have a right to complain about the complaining, you don't have a right to posit some moral superiority due to those things that i listed. People are going to discuss things in an open forum, sometimes it won't be to everyone's taste. That doesn't mean that they are wrong people, or should be embarrassed, or worse, frightened into not bringing things up (this has already occurred i have seen).

thanks

Yeah some people on here can come across way too cynical and entitled. I noticed the same thing in the 'Help Venetian Snares' thread, and also while the Colundi Level 9 kickstarter was happening. Kind of hurts the general image of WATMM, I imagine. Seems like precisely the attitude Snares was talking about when he was explaining his request not to be asssociated with the site.

Edit: Not pointing any fingers here by the way, just more of a general observation.

The original facebook post does not imply anything. It is one persons thoughts after listening to the compilation, and who he hopes might be involved. It does not implicitly say any of the artists are involved.

Correct that charities do not get a "free pass" on anything, and yes they should be open to scrutiny.

BUT

In this case, the official line from Touched Music has always been that these tracks are by anonymous producers. And if you want to support that idea and get some money to MacMillan, you have an opportunity.

I really don't understand why so many people on here are completely butthurt by the idea.

Its great music, for a great cause, at a great price (or more £££$$$ if you are feeling charitable around the festive period).

Basically, watmm sucks the fun out of one guys passion project.

norvum spends his free time making these sick comps for us to enjoy. and i mean sick. and quite a bit of free time. you know who did the volume leveling on the ridiculously massive touched 2 comp? norvum. he's a swell fellow. i've seen him giving out free download links in chatmm, and doing other generous things. just sayin

most people were supportive of snares, i don't see why quite mild alternative views have to a- be so harshly attacked in a moralistic fashion b- be suggested as representative of the whole. By and large a lot of watmmrz and by extension their networks of influence put their money in to help snares. The same thing is happening here, no one is butthirt as fletcher would have it, stop taking the blind social justice warrior have the high moral ground so that justifies any personal attack angle, it's trying and muddies the issue and the purpose of the thread, more so than just some genuine questions from what are long time, good members of the site, that never cause trouble and have bought fuck tons of electronic music over the years, for charity or otherwise. And on top of that, it is against the spirit of charity to all men.

nwae, back to talking about the tracks or whatever we were doing before this.

lol the artwork uses the 'extrude' photoshop filter

Right? Good one TDR. "It's for charity? No commission?" 20 minutes later....

Not to say I don't like the artwork, but I was a big fan of the Extrude filter when I was 10 or so, and I can say that it does not exactly produce diverse results.

Valid points, I digress. Back to enjoying the music. :)

Have only listened through my CD a couple of times so far but so far I reckon:

  • top comp. with great tunes
  • love the concept
  • worthy cause
  • kudos to all involved in making this happen (both the Touched peeps for their efforts and artists for their contributions)
  • shame on the whinging naysayers for being utter dicks

There was a study recently that stated that after giving to charity, many people become more selfish in their decision making and interactions with others, nick the fish illustrates this rather directly.

Yea? Did you read that in Curmudgeon Weekly?

i was saying, politely, that giving to a charity doesn't give you licence to be a twunt. Especially not against the good people of watmm and about a problem that was mostly played out.
