not engaging too seriously with WATMM is probably a good thing for you. the music discussion comes first and foremost, and aside from that I think it's great meeting some of the less autistic WATMMers irl, but yeah. probably better for your sanity not to have too high a personal stake in an internet forum.

Well, there was this thread, and also countless other ones where people were giving terrible production tips. I lurk that forum a lot more these days and just look at all the pretty gear.

Although our disagreeing over essentially two things (9/11 and 'political Islam') caused an all out war between us

My first interaction with him was a PM where he told me had just changed his SN from awepittance to JE for his safety (i think he thought someone was out to get him)

(You know, back in the 'teen wolf dad avatar' days)

Anyway, i do hope he comes back

He is a genuinely good guy

But the uncomfortable fact is that not everybody on this planet believes or wants the same things (not everyone wants to live in a liberal hippie utopia like we do) and whether JE understood that or not, I always got the impression he didn't

Yeah JE is was one of my favorite watmmers, a contrian's contrian, a cynic's cynic, conspiracy theory virtuoso, and above all one the most knowledgeable music fans and music makers on here. For every angry political post he had there would be another say, breaking a synth stab heard in a rare AFX track. Even his most extreme negative comments were worth a read, and I appreciate a lot of music now based on both stuff he's praised and hated.

More importantly, can we now start speculating that JE is Heorge Garrison?

Seems like some of our own bottled-up frustrations with WATMM are surfacing as a result of JE's departure, which is why he left to begin with, as I understand.

But whatever. I'm not gonna talk shit about him, since he never caused me any harm. Maybe it'll be a fresh, new chapter in life for him, who knows

I didn't agree with him on everything, but I can't think of a single post of his (outside political threads where he was dodging the flying poo) that I would just skip or skim over. I can't say that about many watmmers. I appreciated his observations on the Autechre threads and his deep but various obsessions.

I haven't kept up on the relevant threads but I get the impression he doesn't want to come back. I hope he does. But with the dust settling after AE_LIVE I wouldn't blame someone for taking a break.

Robbie and his sister both come off as egotistical and full of themselves on tv, maybe that's just how they were raised. Their parents must be proud, two underground anti establishment heroes in one family! Lol
