Also made a playlist for spotify, this includes songs I liked from both albums that were and weren't on my top list as well as other singles I liked from the radio or that friends recommended.

Sure it must have already been mentioned but just got round to getting this.. only had a couple of listens so far but pretty sure this will be added to my best of 2015 list!

Anthony Child _ Electronic recordings from maui Jungle Vol 1

wait have none of you guys said Leafcutter John - Resurrection? Also there should be more mentions of Pole - Wald. Also I think this is my 420th post in 10 years, you guys should celebrate by listening to those albums. oh wait, 421. you should still do it tho.

Surprised nobody's mentioned (unless I missed them):

Neon Indian - VEGA INTL. Night School

Grimes - Art Angels

I had to double check to see if MNLTH's Time EP actually came out this year. Not one mention other than my own. So many good albums in this thread, just see this as a noticeable absence.

Toa - Miku/Toa

Lupe Fiasco - Tetsuo & Youth

Ling Tosite Sigure - es or s

A few more to add to my list too:

Sophie - Product

Priori - With Ease

Grimes - Art Angels

J Dilla - Dillatronic

Erykah Badu - But You Caint Use My Phone

Just noticed YESTERDAY that a new Dilla album was out... I loved the "King of Beats" comp that came out this year (or last year?) as well !

Holy shit, John Tejada. I bought "The Matrix of Us" based on his Plaid remix a long time ago and was very underwhelmed save for "Genetical Love". I had written him off. I checked on his Kompakt release based on Kooch's post and goddamn it blew me away. So much so that I had to buy it.

Yeah, his album this year is his best imo.

I'm still adjusting, but here are the candidates for the best for me:

King Midas Sound & Fennesz, Edition 1
Grimes, Art Angels
Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper
Grant, The Acrobat
Beach House, Depression Cherry
Prefuse 73, Rivington Nao Rio
Fred P, Modern Architect
Luke Vibert, Bizarster
U.S. Girls, Half Free
Helen, The Original Faces
Night Sequels, Children of the Night Make Music
Kurt Vile, B'live I'm Goin Down
Nicole Dollanganger, Natural Born Losers
Holly Herndon, Platform
Helena Hauff, Discreet Desires
Herva, Kila

Anyone up for compiling / counting the nominees to make a poll this year? Not sure if SPD is up for the job again? Would be nice to see :)

electronic music fan 'top 50 releases of the year' lists are exciting when they look virtually identical to Boomkat's and Bleep's 'coincidentally' the albums marketed/hyped up the hardest are your favourite

You two sound like the types who look at Boomkat or Bleep annual list and keeps wondering what are those. Hint: Boomkat and Bleep are not even in the same conversation.

both boomkat and bleep are fairly obviously geared towards judging music from a perspective of also selling, so shouldn't take long for most to spot that element. different, though a little more distasteful, than judging it from the perspective of perpetuating freebies or identity at the ultimate expense of the readership, like some sites, i guess ...

that said, i find 'best of' year-end lists useful for catching stuff i missed, especially in the age where soundcloud links can be placed on pages - i probably pick up several albums each year by using these previews, only one so far this year - 'fis'.

yeah ... i picked up on 'fis' via norman records. it's something of a variation on what i used to do with adverts in music papers 20 years back ... just take a punt every once in a while from something that catches my eye. not a perfect way to do things, but another tactic amongst many.
