results a bit odd so far, england outside of london skewing more towards leave than expected, london and scotland skewing more towards remain than expected, london votes starting to come in now, tilting the balance back towards remain. wales seems to be closer towards leave than predicted, thankfully the welsh rarely have much say in anything :)

strength of Welsh vote for leave really puzzling, the biggest recipients of EU money in the UK.

Scotland looking like close to 100% constituencies for Remain, very strong case for Independence Round 2 if Leave wins overall.

its been on the cards for a while now - disaffected, disenfranchised, white working class voters looking to reject something

  Quote

Declan Kearney, a Northern Ireland Assembly member for Sinn Féin, says his party will push for a poll on whether Northern Ireland should stay in the UK or unite with the Republic of Ireland if the UK votes to leave the EU.

He says it will be "completely undemocratic" if the majority of people in Northern Ireland vote Remain but are "drawn out of the EU as a result of being carried on the coat-tails" of voters in England.

"Sinn Féin will continue to press... for a border poll under the provisions of the Good Friday Agreement, because this (EU Referendum) will demonstrate palpably a dramatic change in the political landscape of the north," he says.

such a poll would never go in their favour, but the first signs of the nonsense that will be caused by this little Englander bullshit.

best of luck to Scotland in their independence bid.

I'll be heading back home to Ireland as soon as I get the chance (always intended to, nothing to do with this result), so I'm more filled with feelings of pity rather than anger. There'll be some interesting opportunities for Ireland with the UK out of the EU, hopefully it won't affect us too badly overall.

Of course, it's always possible that despite the result the UK remains in the EU:

Even Johnson said before the campaigning started that they could use this for a further renegotiation, faced with the dissolution of the united kingdom as a whole, that might be the only solution for them. Not the most likely outcome, but certainly one of the possibilities given what might happen in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

pretty slim odds that the outcome wouldn't be followed through, right? that would not sit well with voters.

it might be put to the vote again in a general election.

I dunno. I'm not sure what is going to happen. No one really does. Let's not start a funeral for the UK just yet.

There are European countries that are not a part of the EU.
