is this exclusive to spotify or does spotify get things ahead of time...?

It's on Apple Music as well. Seems like it's steaming only for now.

Norvum just mentioned in another thread that it's soon to appear on Bleep, I'm assuming he has the inside scoop.

Not a fan of tracks 5, 7, and 8, those tracks are really disappointing and are so lackluster they almost feel like they're playing a joke on us. Otherwise pretty good material. Favorite tracks are 1, 6, and 10, really effective minimalism and it's fun to space out to those.

Some of these goddamn fools on here.... On the whole this is probably the best album they've ever done with peaks as high as stuff from Rest Proof Clockwork or Double Figure, but with more meat as an album. I don't get all of the Reachy Prints outpouring of praise really. Sure it was good, but it was it was only an average album for them (which is high) that sounded as good as they always do. They thing about Reachy Prints is that it was a much smaller dose being as short as it was. Maybe that lent to the love, but The Digging Remedy is their masterpiece. I mean this is just the classic Plaid I always wanted.

"fools"? Lets not turn a clean and polite part of the forum into a mess of gobshites like the aphex one ;)

It's a great album but far from their best, well, not far. Spokes will always be the most concise album of bangers for me and reachy Prints is up there too.

There is a flatness to the overall sound of these last 3 albums which I have had to get used to but a few listens and the music scomes through and my worries go away and yeah, The digging remedy is a great album and a real grower.

It grew on me thru round 2.

Spokes, I'll never get that either. Even the Peel Session versions of tracks from that blew the originals away. I hope at least we can all agree that Greedy Baby was the worst of it. I was down about that shit happening, but then they did the Japanese soundtracks and it was like light rays shone down from heaven. And then there were a couple good ones on Scintilli but that's about it. Reachy Prints was getting there but never quite made it to "love", but this, this I love.

yikes, who are the 'fools'? no room for negativity in a Plaid thread. I find appreciation for all Plaid's albums. Some resonate more with me than others but on the whole I enjoy all of them. Spokes came out during a really pivotal time in my life and I will always associate it with the memories I have from the fall of 2003. Personally I struggle to see how you can't like Spokes if you're a Plaid fan, but I get how it might not be in everyone's top tier.

As for The Digging Remedy, my vinyl finally arrived on Monday and after a couple listens has really opened up for me. Some tracks that didn't hit me right away are starting to click (Lambswood, Melifer) and others are only getting better and better for me (Baby Step Giant Step, Yu Mountain, Reeling Spiders)

Really great album, you can feel the confidence they have at this stage in their career. A very welcome addition to their solid as hell discography.

"fools" refers to these nap inducing people that are like "Plaid is boring" bluh bluh bluh bluh.

I really love Rest Proof, Double Figure, P-Brane, Spokes... even lots of stuff on Parts in the Post. But I haven't full "clicked" with a Plaid release since Spokes. I'll give this some more listens, but I really like the bouncy nature of those earlier releases (well, at least some of the tracks). It really does seem like they've changed their approach since then, and I have a hard time really feeling it. I need to listen to this some more.

there is a lot of guitar on this album

Yeah, most people who say it's boring don't give things enough time and then go straight back to their obsession. That's fine though, for some people it's less about the music and more about the obsession and being seen to listen to stuff that their friends think is "crazy".

All good.

I've been putting listening to this off until my gf is back from working out of town.

Would you all say it's leaning in style towards Reachy Prints, or some other style/

reachy prints but more laid back and cohesive as an album

you didn't think reachy was cohesive?!

Yes, I found that strange too. Reachy Prints was their most cohesive album IMO, really works well to play the whole album through.

I love this new album. At first it sounded a bit disappointing to me, but the more I listen the more I want to listen. It is addictive and gloriously delicate and fun.

Beautiful work, Plaid!
