These lists are all invalid with oneum, which is a perfect Ae level closer.  Honestly it reminds me of slightly more frenetic Messaien organ stuff.  Its cosmic and amazing and wildly underrated.

to me this release still is pretty much perfect as it is (scope n all) and rapes exai quite violently.

IF i could live without one of the tracks (and i can't) it'd prolly be c16 as i had already heard that one 30 septendecillion times as part of the live sets.

Well after a while to sink in, I spent a bit of time chopping and mixing some edits to see if I could fit the elseq stuff into more of an album format. Could be 10 years with a smartphone, or the fact I no longer smoke weed, but my concentration isn't what it used to be and even after nearly 2 years of listening I really find some of the tracks just a bit too long. The 20 minute+ ones actually became less interesting to me the more I heard them, opposite of the usual 'autechre effect'.

So...ended up with:

It works a bit better for me as a single listen, there's still room for some 10 minute edits, but the middle has some trippier shorter cuts, quaristice-style.

There's some great stuff spare like feed1 and c16 deep tread - I couldn't quite fit them into the flow of it, but you could make a great accompanying EP.

Interesting fact: 13x0 step is 130bpm and chimer 1-5-1 is 151bpm.

Possibly a coincidence, but I was listening to some tod dockstader the other day and was suddenly hit with a very familiar sound. Check out 2:27 in this track, sounds uncannily similar to the synth that runs through eastre.

i don't really hear the similarity. perhaps some timbre at times.. wavefolding goodness.. but the dostader track is coming from a modular right? maybe a serge or something.. sounds that way.. or buchla or something.. droney.. eastre is max and to me sounds like it has some karplus feedback type stuff in it somewhere.. hard for me to tell really because could be anything in max... 

I can hear a similarity with that passage that misc mentioned. It's the combination of "raw oscillator" sustained tones; glissandi; the more clangy percussive sounds; and the beating and dissonance caused by all the above that does bring eastre to mind. In that respect, it doesn't quite matter with either piece, whether they were made with a modular or max etc (well, max is a modular thing anyway), it's more to do with composing choices.

Yeah the osc is definitely similar sonically, but I'm guessing it's just a result of quite *how* raw the sound is, like pure saw (?) waves melting around

For a good time: compare the intro to M.J.'s "Beat It" with the intro to "Mesh Cinereal"...tones are very similar lol

I think they could engineer their tracks a little better imo. Maybe it's just my ears

Paused feed1 at about 9 minutes and forgot, unpaused not thinking about what it was. Was a hell of a few seconds of confusion as my brain tried to reorient itself within the music. For the most part the track is good, just twice as long as it needs to be.

The bassy bouncy synthy line about 1:30 in c16 deep tread sure is cheeky as fuck ain't it though? About 7-8 minutes in reminds me of Osla for N. Whole track is a bit cheeky really, last minute or so is nice though.

13x0 step is pretty nice. Reverb is a little cheap/excessive though.

pendulu hv moda has some pretty interesting stuff going on rhythmically. Also sort of represents what I don't enjoy about most of elseq: it's got cool components, but just seems like it's missing something special. The turn at 3:00ish is nice. 7:15 turn is reasonably epic/dark weirdness. Like much of elseq, the last few minutes could've been shaved off and no one would've cried (swells at the end are okay but I dunno, it just all meanders out).

curvcaten is nearly unlistenable if it's not up loud. Good funk, and the riffage going on towards the end really does sound like a metal band or something. Mix is weird on this one, on lots of elseq they're doing amazing things sonically with the mix and control of sounds, then they do stuff that just seems silly, I guess they're having some fun with it? I dunno. I'm probably too serious. Love the choking to silence they do a few times though...again, doing some amazing stuff sonically. Just don't really get into the songs :/

Also there's this totally useless find. So they posted this HELLO, WORLD image on Tumblr/Instagram/etc. at the bleep store launch before AE_LIVE and elseq came out. If you do photoshop magic you'll see that there are shapes within the image. Amazing find, I know, blew the lid off the elseq mystery.
