imo streaming has little effect on musician's earnings. most people streaming music wouldn't have brought it anyway, they'd either have downloaded it or not listened in the first place. rather than them getting £0.0000031525788 per play they'd get £0.

i pay Spotify a small amount each month for an excellent service and i buy records, merch etc for the stuff i'd have brought regardless of streaming. i stream more than anybody else I know and i spend way, way more on music (too much) than anybody else i know.

fuck having a 300gb music library on my computer anymore, streaming is way easier, more effectient and more consistent.

stream digital, buy physical.

QQQ makes a good point. Streaming might be good for a lot of people but there are many who are still buying stuff. Looking at my finances since January, thanks to Ltd editions, vinyls, reissued soundtracks and so forth, I spent (on average) £320 each month on music alone.
