Some people get really mad about Anup because the guitars are electronic, not real, but it sounds phenomenal regardless.

yeah wow, that sounds really good.. Some of the demos I've been working on lately have been using sampled guitars, only because it's quicker to write stuff like that in Renoise than sit there recording endless takes of real guitar. I'll re-record them later but this Anup stuff is making me think I need to re-make my metal guitar sample pack and not feel ashamed of using it in my tracks.. IDM metal ftw

Album has leaked...

Listening to it now, just got to the title track... not a single bad moment so far... Definitely need to pick up a physical copy.

Interesting - if the wiki page is to be believed, most of the music as written between Haake (drummer) and Lövgren (bassist) this time around, with very little contribution from either guitarist.  That's quite unusual for them.  I don't think Lovgren has had any songwriting credit on previous albums, and now he's got a hand in almost all of it.  I wonder how much that affected the direction of the music.

Might have to check out this leak....

It shows on "By The Ton" that track hassome serious groove to it... It's basically Haake and Lövgren going H.A.M. for like 6 minutes

Huh, that is interesting. According to Lövgren's wikipedia page, he studied jazz and has written a jazz fusion album, so I'm hoping for the return of some nice jazzy parts :D

Nice catch, was surprised by that. Thordendal has only one co-writers credit.

Some really great moments on this album.  I think the fact that most of it was cowritten with the bass player this time really comes across.  The rhythms are a lot less jagged, and there's more melodic movement than usual.  It's more expressive.  And of course, everything sounds monstrous as ever.

cool, I see it's available on Spotify already in Australia so I'll give it a listen today. Think I might end up getting the vinyl version on payday.

Pretty awesome! Haven't listened to my vinyl yet but I am excited to it again. That they performed this live is mind blowing.
