On the face of it, plants are full of life and a symbol of peace. If you take time out of the equation, it's evil. We should consider this when voting for most IDM.

You're completely over everything, there's just no music which is good enough, I mean there were 2 or 3 IDM artists you used to obsess with but you're seeing right through them now and they really should make different, better music. In your head you make better music than them. But, you have found a new use for your headphones: it keeps people away in public. Especially muslims.

Holy shit, the headphones thing is going to make it to finals...  But it could easily lose to "Not spending time outside", and motherfucking everyone will do an ambient track.

"Wearing headphones with no incoming sonics" is only IDM if you're not trying to be cool or pretending to listen to music.  I do it often by accident (subconsciously on purpose?).  It's IDM, because- well, first off-- IDM is not a music genre, it's a way of life.

The IDM reason why someone would have silent headphones on is if they were just listening to something and the sounds stopped (or expecting to listen to something but have yet to listen to anything).  But the reason why they aren't removed from the head immediately, is because they are comfortable.  If you are IDM, 93%, you have a pretty good pair of headphones.  But 100%, you've been listening to music forever, so such a head ornament is part of who you are.  It's part of your DNA, even.  That's why it's IDM.  It's a physical object that can connect you to a world of sonics that is accessible by many, but your experience will be your very own.  Wearing headphones without listening to anything is part of prepping the vehicle that will take you to your deep destination, and keeping them on your head is like revving the engine on your Lamborghini Countach.  Will you ever make it out of your parking lot?  You don't know- but you're ready to go 180MPH in a heartbeat.

Also, the "Being botanically ignorant... plant engulfs room"-- that technically is IDM, but it's the plant that's IDM in that scenario.  "You"- in that scenario- are just irresponsible, careless, confident in your ignorance, and dangerously retarded to the point that you keep feeding this plant until your place is destroyed.  This is like trusting a slaveowner to give freedom, because he has freedom to give.  The plant will not give you IDM in this scenario.  This choice is IDM, but it's a trick to make you look like a fool.  The plant would probably then go on to get signed by Mike Paradinas, and you'd realize that you can't even come close to competing with its photosynthesis beats.

Choose headphones with no music, because to deny your headphones (and yourself) the celebration they deserve for supporting such a dear part of you through SO FUCKING MUCH, would be sad.

Rather elaborate ploy to get those spacious scenes to win
