Framing things as a First Amendment issue as well, which is of course bullshit, but they're framing it that way for the best talking points for the near future. It's seriously fucking disgusting to see. Literally just said "We're not talking about an armed resistance against socialists, but..." and I'm sure the loons will eat this shit up.

It's so incessent one forgets the 2nd Amendment is in the Bill of Rights, not the Constitution, and defines "well-regulated militia" in the context of a country when the most deadly weapons were muskets and canons, a national army barely existed, and the nation had absolutely no concept of an armed police force and miltiary deployed worldwide.

Also half of the Bill of Rights has been out of use because they are obsolete. 2nd amendment only equates to allowing private gun ownership after centuries of case law. NRA literally supported thorough regulation until the early 90s. Most of the guns used in shootings are essentially new. The NRA wants to protect a niche firearms industry that didn't exist a few decades ago. Hell, in 1997 the LAPD literally had to buy AR-15s from stores on the fly in order to fight off two robbers in a shootout who were better armed. Now it's easier to buy AR-15s in Florida than handguns. We have a gun problem. 

silver lining: if trump gets some laws changed (bumpstock, registration/mental health limitations/ age), that'd be quite the achievement. regardless of...well anything really.

if he gets that written into law, that's a plus. trump might even be able to write history in a positive way. that is, if he's actually being serious about it. who knows at this point...
