my only conclusion is that this is an issue of a lack of iq and general reasoning ability in the US population due to years of conservative repression of education and the right's worship of "common sense" over real intellectual ability, which they hate, probably because they're all dumb fucks and they feel inferior so they engage in mental gymnastics to flip the story and pretend like the thing they lack, general intelligence, actually doesn't matter and is in fact something that is an invention of the left, with "left" just being a placeholder for {females, minorities, anyone who disagrees with me}

this is closely related to the right's higher rate of embracing irrational religious belief systems which probably primes their brain for being enthusiastic about irrational political systems, which is being used against them to further the aims of corrupt conservative politicians and corporations.  they're objectively voting against their own interests, do they just not see it or is there a legitimate philosophical difference of opinions here and there's a chance we're wrong?  I don't think so, and the fact that only members of the "left" entertain that possibility cements my belief that it's not the case and liberal ideals are indeed more rational, no matter how much I disagree with many ideas of the left which are significantly less consequential than the important ones

the right has mastered propaganda and shamelessly held onto power, in a sense the left is undone by it's own moral and societal obligations - it's really the same dynamic of any other democracy that's dissolved into authoritarianism. The US is an unprecedented example because: 1. we are still a languishing world power 2. our constitution and republic has been robust enough to stave off a complete power grab 3. our entitlement and social welfare programs are huge yet extremely inefficient, it's pretty much the bare minimum in terms of serving the public compared to BOTH other democracies and authoritarian countries. it's incredible that both Scandinavian social democracies and developing world failed states both, albeit on paper, have universal healthcare while the US does not.
